There was one girl in particular who refused to serve my children. She took my sister’s order, then turned to my kids and said, “We’re closed!” before walking away and even turning off the lights. Confused, I said, “Well that was rude! We’re all together, but you only took one person’s order?” She then told another worker, “You can take their order.”

Thankfully, someone else stepped in and got the Dippin’ Dots for us, but I still reported the terrible customer service to the manager. If you don’t have the patience or respect to work with the public, why even apply? Some parents truly need to do a better job raising their children.

For how expensive the food is you would think it would at least be good. I almost threw up even with the mac & cheese. The best thing was the chicken tender and even that wasn't great, the fries were cold when we got them.

No issues w service. Zoo overall is great. Food at this spot is overpriced and not very well made. Burger was overcooked w cold cheese slapped on after cooking. Buns not toasted. Basically school cafeteria style. We went Labor Day so maybe it affected it. Will stick to Buddys from now on since options are limited.

The food was very overpriced, especially for a cheeseburger that had a moldy bun. Make sure you check the burgers before eating them!

Tables are always dirty, hamburgers are the cheapest meat I've tasted. It tastes cheap. And the food comes out slowly.

Ordered the fries that were supposed to have a Carolina reaper sauce on them, there was no heat at all from any peppers. The fries were good overall but I was expecting something with some spicy kick to it. Staff was helpful and friendly.

The woman who took my order acted like she had no idea what I was ordering. She talked so quietly you couldn’t understand her and caught an attitude with me. The food taste like something they’d serve you in jail. Way overpriced for dollar store meat.

The AC is nice, and the food came out fairly quick. A bit sticky on the inside. Pretty small portions and nothing special for the price. 11 bucks for a plain hotdog.

Visited the Sunday of Memorial Day. 55 mins to complete an order of fries, and chicken tenders w fries, that were premade on a tray. When I calmly asked for an update at 45mins, I was rudly asked to be patient. When I picked up my food for my family, the same employee, maybe the Lead...who asked me to be patient was handwriting orders numbers down because the 30+ families still waiting were not being filled and may had been lost. Time for management to be looked at. This story could keep going.

Was kinda amazed by how many negative reviews this place have. Not saying they're untruthful but I've always had a decent experience here. Food isn't incredible but I would describe it as good cafeteria food (fries are incredible though). Chicken tenders weren't dry and hard to chew, and the burger was decent although the bun was a lil cold. After ordering on a kiosk our food was ready in 5 minutes or less. Not sure how so many people waited crazy amounts of time for food in their reviews, maybe understaffed? Prices are high but you're dining in the center of a zoo, so it's fair. Don't be afraid to go here if you want an okay experience!

Waited over 1 1/2 hours for a cheeseburger and tenders, outrageous

Hour and a half wait for 2 order of fries. Not worth it.

Nearly ruined our zoo experience. This place needs a complete management overhaul.

Be prepared to wait 40 minutes while repeatedly asking for your number only to eventually find out that the staff had no idea your number even existed, then watch as they scramble to get the order finished... incorrectly (literally was given the wrong sandwich despite handing them the itemized receipt).

What's worse is you can see 4 or 5 staff just standing around in the kitchen not working... It was not even a busy day at the zoo!

My suggestion? Bring your own food or eat somewhere else.

Please bring back the Arctic Café. This was one of the worst re designs I ever seen. The food is just horrible compare to what it use to be.

Table 28 at the Detroit Zoo offers a mixed dining experience. The burger was decent, but the tenders were disappointingly dry and tough to chew. While the fries were plentiful, they were served in open packaging, causing them to cool quickly. Overall, it’s an average option for a quick bite during your zoo visit.
