Thornton's Hometown Cafe Reviews
Two of us in to get breakfast, three other tables set after us got served first!!Food was okay but toast and hash browns were swimming in butter that would not melt!! The hostess could care less when I addressed this to her!!!! Never again!!! I ‘m local so never again with telling everyone else!
Came here based on Yelp reviews and menu choices. Overall it was fine but I was a bit disappointed with the biscuits and gravy that were not made in house. :( My husbands pancakes were tender and tasty. Here for a week and will try something else tomorrow.
Cozy clean friendly cafe with superb breakfast. The coffee had a robust flavor, eggs cooked to specification, sour dough bread toasted to perfection and crispy smoky intense bacon. Coffee was filled as needed and even though a busy Sunday morning the staff was friendly. We will be back!

Thornton's Hometown Cafe is a cozy, family-run restaurant with friendly and attentive servers. The food is delicious, especially the pancakes, and portions are generous. The service is warm and welcoming, with waitstaff checking on customers frequently. The cafe has a comfortable, small atmosphere with a few servers covering the floor, making it easy to get a table. Prices are reasonable, and the olive burger is a standout dish. The café is a popular spot for locals, and its clean facilities add to the inviting atmosphere. The coffee is great, and kids' meals are affordable at $4.99. The owner and cook prepare meals like the perfect omelet, comparable to a world-class French restaurant. Overall, Thornton's Hometown Cafe is a must-stop diner in St. Joe, especially for those exploring Lake Michigan, with a welcoming vibe and tasty food.
