Our actual rating is 4.5 and we would have given a solid 5 except the time between our appetizer and entree was a bit too long. Food and service was outstanding! Filet mignon was worth the wait, probably one of the best we've had!
Excellent filets and sides, as always, Kitchen was behind, our dinner came at 7pm (res was at 5pm, no starters or soup/salad, just entrees and sides for four people. Thought that the table could be turned more often. Very disappointed at the slow pacing. Thank you!
Depends on the night. We have had great food and service but have also waited three hours for average to poor food quality.
Michael was our server, very friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, gave suggestions, Tomahawk Steak was delicious.
Bowdies never fails to impress on every measure. Lawrence, who tends the bar and took our order, is as professional and personable as they come!
Excellent food and cocktails. Great service. Perfect for a special occasion dinner. Make reservations a few weeks in advance if you need a specific time.
PLEASE READ BEFORE MAKING THE DECISION TO VISIT THEIR GRAND RAPIDS LOCATION. ***AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE*** Myself and other ladies traveled up to 1 1/2 hours for a dinner reservation that was made well in advance with a deposit to secure the reservation at Bowdies, 2237 Wealthy St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. Our group consisted of 11 women of color with families, jobs, businesses and lives that keep us very busy so rarely do we get a chance to all get together without our kids, spouses, significant others, or having to handle work/or business matters. So when our schedules aligned to have a evening out together, we were elated to get out, support a local business and have a good ladies evening out to celebrate one of our dearest friend's birthdays. Upon our arrival we referenced the call we had with a Bowdie's employee that took our reservation and minutes later David, the manager approaches our table and insulted us in various ways with his tone, unprofessional actions, poor customer services, and false claims. Claiming we were being untruthful and caused an unnecessary, embarrassing and dreadful scene. Then threatened to call the police. Upon the arrival of the police, he continues to lie and I called him out on the lies since I witnessed the reservation being made and heard what the employee stated to us. As other visitors were leaving, one mentioned that they seen accommodations made before even WITHOUT a reservation and could NOT believe how we were being treated. One stated the way we were treated was unacceptable and they will not be returning and will share our experience. This experience made our entire group feel embarrassed, unwelcomed, humiliated, and unfairly targeted. We left feeling deeply upset and believe this behavior is discriminatory and unacceptable. We hope that Bowdie's takes this matter seriously and implements better training for their staff to prevent these type of encounters for future visitors. We're thankful that Ruth Chris Steakhouse was able to accommodate us and provided excellent customer service, flavorful food and a great experience for our group and they were much more busy compared to Bowdie's.
Upstairs large table when full of customers to far too loud when you have 2 and 4 tops nearby. Really put a damper on the experience. Michael our waiter was exceptional and a very nice guy! Food outstanding!
Our first time dinning at Bowdies did not disappoint, the food was amazing and Elijah our server was so pleasant. He gave some great recommendations and made our experience better than we expected
Food and service were great! I booked for a standard table since we had a stroller but was sat at a high top. The space was quite tight and felt hot/stuffy due to no airflow. Our server was very kind and the food was delicious

Laurence was fantastic w his attentive service and his presentation of the drinks and food
Phenomenal experience at Bowdies again. Our server was Lawrence, and he was beyond great! Food was top notch, drinks were fabulous!
Staff was so rude that we canceled our reservation and went next door to duck alley, which was fabulous and friendly!
Our server was fine. The manager was a nightmare. She was rude and condescending when we asked why our meal was taking so long. As a local Saugatuck resident who has dined a good number of times at Bowdies over the years, it pains me to say I won't be going back any time soon. The food wasn't the usual "top notch" I was expecting and the wait was way too long. But worse was the treatment by the manager. Sorry Bowdies. You used to be our favorite.

APPARENTLY another LOCAL CUSTOMER, Paul Donnelly, who also left a NEGATIVE REVIEW 2 months ago & had EXACTLY THE SAME EXPERIENCE AS OURS last night!! APPALLING BEHAVIOR & CONDESCENDING ATTITUDE from their female manager the evening of Jan. 4, 2025!!!
Our PORTERHOUSE STEAK@ $140 was pricey, gray/OVERLY DONE FOR A MEDIUM / slightly Medium Well and tough meat even for the medium / pink portion of the steak next to the bone. SERIOUSLY, the quality of their steaks are much like the kind of steak you’d get at Golden Corral! Over 85 minutes to get your steak! We are REGULAR CUSTOMERS at GIBSON’s Steakhouse in downtown Chicago and have NEVER GOTTEN CHOICE CUT MEAT & POORLY COOKED! I wish I got that female manager’s name last night (black hair & black eyeglasses) that evening needs to improve her customer service skills and not be patronizing! Had no offers to even compensate ANY part of the meal. Over $220 (no alcoholic beverages) for our share of the bill, I rate their steak was tough to chew and seasoning was not even detectable on any part of the meat to give it any kind of flavor.
