There was a long wait and then we got seated as far away from the water as possible and right near the back door. I got the walleye and it was loaded with bones. I couldn't take a normal bite since I had to fish them out the entire time so then I just stopped eating. No sympathy or apology from the server. Just, "It's like that sometimes." The sauce was pretty flavorless too.

We came to this restaurant 3 times on our visit in July- it was a vacation favorite and we will definitely be back. The food and location are just fantastic and so

The view is great. Nothing beats sitting by a river and getting some lunch. The food, however, was horribly overpriced, the special was an extremely small portion, and none of it had much going for it. It felt a bit kind a tourist

My visit to the Mermaid Bar and Grill in Saugatuck, MI, was a memorable experience. The location itself is fantastic, with a beautiful marina, boardwalk, and a stunning sunset view that adds to the charm of the place. However, I was a bit disappointed with the limited fish options on the menu, and my initial choice of halibut was unavailable. This happened again with my second choice. However, the server recommended the fresh cod fish, which I usually don't prefer, but it turned out to be exceptionally fresh and delicious. What truly impressed me was the server's friendly attitude, explaining that they prioritize serving only fresh fish, even if it means running out of certain options. I wholeheartedly agree with this approach. To start, we had the Calamari, which was cooked to perfection, and the drinks, while enjoyable, were on the pricier side. However, the dessert, the pumpkin cheesecake, was a delightful way to end the meal. Overall, the Mermaid Bar and Grill offers a great atmosphere, and their commitment to serving fresh seafood makes it a worthwhile dining destination.

Very good view, vibe, flowers, ambience but unfortunately not too many vegetarian dishes I wished there would have been.

I am not from this area but my husband is. He always spoke highly of the Mermaid. We had been there once before for drinks but stopped for dinner last night. The food and drinks were very good but be warned, also very expensive. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The only negative were the hostesses. They were not very welcoming. There were many tables along the water that were open and they wanted to put us in the back in a corner with no view except a parking lot. I asked if we could sit near the water and the hostess acted as though we were being difficult. They didn't seem welcoming when we arrived nor did they acknowledge us when leaving. They were too busy on their phones. We are in our 50's and they were very young. Some better training in customer service may help. All visitors should be treated with respect and be made to feel welcome.

The outdoor atmosphere is really nice, The server was very nice and efficient but the prices are very high for what little food you get. We had 2 fish tacos, the shells were very soggy, with plain white rice and black beans. We ordered a side of sweet potato fries which looked like shoe string potato fries. It was a very disappointing meal for the price we paid. I would not recommend it to anyone else.

Ate here twice while on vacation. Fantastic location, good service and great food and drinks. We had a large party and they couldn’t get us all at one table but sat us near each other. If you like seafood this is the place to go in Saugatuck! Get the mermaid roll. Like a lobster roll but with more seafood (crab and something else I can’t remember)! Yummy drinks too.

terrible to say the least. tried ordering take out, all of their listed numbers didn't work. So, visited the restaurant & ordered. Fish taco was acceptable. The hanger steak was WELL done. How can you screw up a steak??

The sea scallops that are served with the risotto are awesome! The oysters were also very good. And the halibut was to die for. Beautiful atmosphere, right on the water. We will definitely be back!

We came from out of town. Positive we were seated immediately. Hannah was our server, very pleasant. Negative Was our food!!! My white fish was over done and curled up, sweet potato fries well over done. Chicken was under cooked!! You need cooks or a chef who can prepare food!!! What up set me was the couple next to us with their DOG who decided to lick my leg?Really Please no pets while I eat!! Plus prices were a bit steep and I tip accordingly to my service. Thank you Tricia Conlay

Service was very good even though they were very busy. It felt like we were packed in like sardines it was so full of people and we were sitting outside. They allowed dogs on their patio so that’s why we chose them. We got sardines for the appetizer since they were special made for them. They were very nicely presented with chips, pickles and a mustard sauce. But you do need to like sardines in general to appreciate this dish. For my entree I chose their tuna special. Boy was it spicy. The rub they put on it plus the sauce spread on the plate was just too much for me. I wish it was stated how spicy this dish is prepared. I would not have ordered it. That’s the reason for the 3 stars. Their drink prices are pricey so I didn’t end up getting anything other then water.
