Pennyroyal Cafe & Provisions

I had the eggs, bacon and potatoes. Flavors were very fresh. I also had a cafe latte mocha coffee. They made it very well. Presented it well. Had a orange cranberry muffin which they heated in the oven for me. Very good flavor. The wife had the half sandwich and soup. She did the tomato bisque and a turkey sandwich with a bell pepper pesto. The pesto was spicy for her so she removed it. But the sandwich itself was very good on ciabatta bread.

The Pennyroyal is a gem of a restaurant. The menu is delicious. The in house made sausage was delicious. Food is always spot on. we actually came back 2x on our first visit. The second visit was just to sit and enjoy cocktails at the fire pits. so enjoyable. will be a visit every trip for us.

Our meal was SO GOOD! We ordered the twice-baked potato skillet, the deluxe, and split pancakes. Everything was delicious. Our only issue was that we were told the wait would be 45 minutes and it ended up being longer, and the wait to actually get the food was pretty long. However, the whole area is beautiful and they have a bar and to-go window to get something while you wait.

5/5 every time! Highly recommend. Every time we escape Chicago, enjoying breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Penny’s is a must! Delicious food, unique atmosphere, and incredibly kind staff. The London fog is the best I’ve ever had! Cannot miss!! ?????

Atmosphere was great! The service was not. We asked to order some wine when our food came out and was rudely told she couldn’t do that and she could only get us condiments. We asked if she could grab our server for us then and she said if she sees her, yeah. Seems like a strange response???

Also, we ordered the vegetable sandwich and it was served in a puddle of olive oil. Husband did like the whitefish sandwich and fries.

Pennyroyal in a must stop gem. Tucked off the main road, you feel you’ve stepped into a small farm style eatery with a very relaxing patio.

The food was the icing on the cake, we both had a croissant (chocolate and ham & cheese). My wife had farmers scramble which she loved and the birds nest skillet was just as tasty as it was beautifully plated.

Would come back again without a doubt.

Wow. Visited on a Saturday morning and was incredibly hungover but the smoked fish platter and house cold brew brought me back to life. The pickled veg, goat cheese, and whitefish on rye was the only reason I was able to go pick 55lbs of apples. Get any of the pastries, you can’t go wrong (but make sure you at least get a cheese danish). Service was perfect, I unfortunately can’t recall our servers name but he was a great dude. Another server, Donna, is our favorite, she was super nice to our pup and also ended up serving us at Wild Dog later that day. Cash approved!

The staff was super friendly and accommodating, I LOVED seeing Organic choices on the menu! I have 4 stars d/t seats being hard and not terribly comfortable. The quality of food is unmatched in the area!

Cute place, kind of a small menu- we went for a celebration dinner. The burger was good, although not an actual Smash Burger like the name suggests. Outdoor area looked very pretty but we weren’t able to sit out there. The reason for the bad review is that I was appalled at how very rude most of the staff were that we dealt with and you can’t blame it on “maybe a bad day” when it was multiple staff members. It was uncomfortable and unpleasant to be around. I’ve never experienced so many crabby service workers in a single place. I worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years and found it totally unacceptable and sad really.

Super great experience at penny royal! Several friends suggested we eat there and it did not disappoint. The drinks were creative and tasty and the food was delicious.

Kid-friendliness: No high chairs, so wr probably won't be back with our niece.
