Our server, Max, was very attentive and patient with me by explaining the types of teas.
The outside patio is absolutely gorgeous (it's June rn) and the inside is super cute. It's a liiiittle small inside so I would not recommend parties larger than four. Although, we had no wait ourselves as we were seated at the bar.
The vanilla bourbon chai was delicious. My partner and I both got it! Loved the little tea mugs they came in, too. We also both got an egg and bacon croissant sandwich that hit the spot and was - not exaggerating - the best damn croissant sandwich I've had. Worth it to add the bacon.

Would absolutely recommend this place! Although, during peak hours, I would not recommend if you're in a hurry to get somewhere as the wait for a table/food may slow ya down.

Thank you! Will come back the next time I'm in Saugatuck.

Just out of this world food. Best meal I’ve had out in a LONG time. A fair amount of gluten free options. I’ve enjoyed BOMB breakfasts here before but last night was my first time there for dinner, and it did not disappoint. Everything is well balanced while also being a flavor explosion. We had the fish salad, trout, duck and asparagus and I’d do it all over again!

This place is absolutely amazing. The food, the drinks, the staff, everything about it is impeccable. The menu is unique, and I plan on trying everything on it over time, as what I've tried so far has been a symphony on the palate.

This place is such a gem. We've been here twice and both times the food, pastries, cocktails, and coffee were fantastic. The service is great, and we've been lucky to have wonderful staff to wait on us. The outside patio is also beautiful when the weather is nice. I always look forward to this place when we're in the area.

The food, the location, the vibe? 10/10.
Near the saugatuck dune ride, stunning outdoor area with a show stopping old growth white pine.
Between the croissant sandwich, the hashbrowns and the pancake, I could not pick a favorite. All a hit.

Pennyroyal is a gem in this area. The chef worked in top Chicago restaurants before opening Pennyroyal. A carefully crafted menu that focuses on seasonality and top ingredients, Pennyroyal is a farm-to-table restaurant in an area with a lot of farms but not enough tables to highlight its products. The pastry program for breakfast is a highlight, as is the provisions shed in the back that carries local produce, cheese, and goods.

Inflexible ordering. Unfriendly and moderately rude staff. I'm not one to leave a negative review, but the overall experience was very subpar and won't be back. Food was positioned as upscale, but the taste was not quite there.

Delicious food! The duck leg confit and the basque cake was incredible! My husband got the walleye. Anthony was our server (6/5) and we greatly enjoyed our experience! We hope to come back in the future.

I had the eggs, bacon and potatoes. Flavors were very fresh. I also had a cafe latte mocha coffee. They made it very well. Presented it well. Had a orange cranberry muffin which they heated in the oven for me. Very good flavor. The wife had the half sandwich and soup. She did the tomato bisque and a turkey sandwich with a bell pepper pesto. The pesto was spicy for her so she removed it. But the sandwich itself was very good on ciabatta bread.

The Pennyroyal is a gem of a restaurant. The menu is delicious. The in house made sausage was delicious. Food is always spot on. we actually came back 2x on our first visit. The second visit was just to sit and enjoy cocktails at the fire pits. so enjoyable. will be a visit every trip for us.

Our meal was SO GOOD! We ordered the twice-baked potato skillet, the deluxe, and split pancakes. Everything was delicious. Our only issue was that we were told the wait would be 45 minutes and it ended up being longer, and the wait to actually get the food was pretty long. However, the whole area is beautiful and they have a bar and to-go window to get something while you wait.

5/5 every time! Highly recommend. Every time we escape Chicago, enjoying breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Penny’s is a must! Delicious food, unique atmosphere, and incredibly kind staff. The London fog is the best I’ve ever had! Cannot miss!! ?????

Atmosphere was great! The service was not. We asked to order some wine when our food came out and was rudely told she couldn’t do that and she could only get us condiments. We asked if she could grab our server for us then and she said if she sees her, yeah. Seems like a strange response???

Also, we ordered the vegetable sandwich and it was served in a puddle of olive oil. Husband did like the whitefish sandwich and fries.
