Awful, unseasoned, overpriced food served with attitude. Also, they seem to treat people of color and queer people differently. Avoid this place.

Rude staff. Waited around for 10 minutes waiting to be acknowledged but no one even gave us a “we’ll be right with you!” Place wasn’t even busy.

Pretentious comes to mind.We stopped in for a quick cocktail and while we stood at the hostess stand, the host cleaned and reset a table without acknowledging us. Once the table was reset he finally strolled over and asked if he could help. We asked for a table for 4 for cocktails and you would have thought we were crazy. He looked around and said he didn’t have anything. It’s completely fine to be busy, but it’s not fine to be rude and dismissive. Our stop at Pumpernickels left a negative impression on an otherwise perfect day.

So we where driving to chicago and found this little spot its a awsome little spot, the only problem i had was the guy who recieved us took too long to clear some tables and seat us down after that i believe there was only one server beside the hostess, he was going up and down and working in the bar (KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK) the hostess could have taken our order he left us waiting too long tge food though came out fast and was really good really well cooked and everythingAnother thing would be to put all the prices and things you offer in the menu we didnt know how much each thing was until we paid but overall expierience was pretty good we will give it another chance see if it was just a busy dayOoo and the puppy that was there she is awsome give her some fries or something ahahaha you will give you the hand haha??

First and foremost, Lucy was the sweetest pupper! Friendly/relaxing atmosphere, great service and delicious food. Side note: their bottomless mimosas...you certainly get what you pay for! Would visit again.

1 star cause I have to. Don't waste your money. I stopped in during the week to be the only customer there for the dinner service. I sat at the bar cause anywhere else felt awkward since it was so empty. I ordered the shrimp pasta. It was very bland and the shrimp still had their tails on. I had to pull the shrimp out of a red sauce to pull the tails off so they were edible. Not the quality or effort of the $30 dish. I couldn't finish it so I got a box and asked for the check. I had my drinks on one check and my food on another. Come to find out they charged me $38 for the shrimp pasta which is not what it says on the menu. I did not notice until they had already run my card. I also paid for my drinks with cash and they shorted me change. I asked who I thought was the owner and he didn't seem to know where he was. He confirmed the shrimp pasta was $30 not $38. My original server never came back after dropping off the bill. She hid in the kitchen until I had to ask the owner. The owner then went to get her because he had no idea how to fix it or what was going on. While they were both at the terminal discussing what was going on she first asked me what change I was missing and I broke the math down for her and explained it was a $1 short. She then turns around and tells the owner the previous server did not leave her enough change (it's my change you don't just short me because you don't have the money or maybe tell me that and I might say just keep it). Instead you know you short me change and over charge me the pasta and hide in the back. They were able to fix my over charging of the pasta and finally give me my $1 back but they never truly apologized. Once I packed to leave I had to tell them good night since neither wanted to talk to me. Ambiance might be nice but overall this place is way over priced and the customer service is awful. Spend your money on a better local place where people value you as a customer. Bye Pumpernickels from a new local I will never come back.

2.5/3 stars overall. The ambiance was good. Live music and being able to see the Christmas lights outside from upstairs was fun. We came for dinner and their cheaper wine was close to undrinkable. Wine list should probably be reviewed closer. Food was ok, probably not worth the price IMO. Service was mediocre. When asking the waiter what the seasonal veggie was they didn't know. Seems like a simple question that a waiter should know. I don't think I would recommend and try not to be fooled by the ambiance.

The atmosphere was great, the bartender/ server tried his best. Unfortunately we waited 20minutes before he greeted us, another 25 mins before we had water. My shrimp pasta was $30 on the menu and the bill was$38. I barley ate it, because it was awful! He didn't even bothering asking how the food tasted. Whoever was the manager or owner who seated us should of helped his staff. The waitress who brought food up literally tried to give us food while I was a talking my kids coats off. ( clearly not our food) That dog that roams is cute, but the poor dog had their tail in between their legs the whole time. We won't be coming back.

The location is great. Ambiance inviting. The servers were overwhelmed but pleasant. The food was subpar. Greek omelette was filled to the brim with onions, with a few overcooked potatoes, French toast was okay. Both were lukewarm. For the price is is not recommended.

Food was awful and very overpriced, the avocado on stale bread and spread so very thin, my fish tacos was not eatable

The server couldn't count the correct customers, no refills on the water, all food was cold, avocado toast was on plain bread untoasted, the eggs were presented on a plate that was too small to hold the eggs themselves, no butter or jelly for any breakfast toast, never saw the waitress except for her to deliver the check. Will repost my experience when the owner makes some changes.

Went for breakfast with my husband- it was fairly empty and it took 10 min for the hostess to bring us a water and 25 minutes until the waitress/bartender came to talk to us and take our order. She did serve drinks to 6 others who sat at the bar after we got seated in those 25 minutes though. She also didn't seem to check on anyone after they got their food either. My burger came without the bacon I ordered (kitchens fault- it was on our check) and we had to go up to the bar to ask for ketchup. Saving grace was honestly the drinks which is the only reason I gave 2 stars. Such a shame, I remember this place being so great a couple years ago when I came. Oh, also there were cobwebs all over the staircase and plants on the table/bar area we were seated and the bathroom was out of hand towels. If we ever return it would only be for drinks.
