One of the best restaurants in harbor Country! Beautiful atmosphere and the library room is great for a small group. Excellent bar service!

The Indian food for one of their international nights was creative and delicious! We had the lamb kebabs and chicken masala. Coctails are also flavorful and beautiful.

I want to like this place more, but after four visits, it’s mid. The menu is all over the place, Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern, American….and not all executed well. Too large of a spread for everything to be tasty, especially for the prices. Cocktails are good, wine list is decent. But, please get your waitstaff out of yoga pants! Athleisure dumbs it all down.

This has quickly become one of our absolute favorite places to dine. The vibe is warm, welcoming, and effortlessly stylish, making it the perfect spot for any occasion. The food is outstanding, the drinks are expertly crafted, and the service is truly impeccable—attentive without being overbearing. Every visit feels special, and we’re never disappointed. Highly recommend!

Highly overrated. Elote fritters were pasty and had very little flavor. The walleye was OK but nothing memorable. The drinks good so that was a highlight. The wait staff was kind but unremarkable. I would not recommend. They need to reassess their vision.

A standout spot in Sawyer!
As someone who’s proud to be part of the local restaurant scene, I always appreciate when a place honors its roots while delivering something truly memorable — and The Historian does just that.

Every visit has been a pleasure, but the burger with foie gras left a lasting impression. Chef Michael is doing beautiful work, and his team brings it all together with care and intention.

The Historian is a shining example of what makes Harbor Country so special — a place where history, hospitality, and heart come together on the plate. Always happy to see neighbors doing it right!

I stopped at the Historian just to get a quick refreshment, but I was impressed by the place. It has a stylish atmosphere and talented, friendly bartenders. I decided to give their espresso martini a try since I’ve always wanted to like the drink and had poor experiences before. Their espresso martini was smooth with a hint of cocoa, and it was probably the best espresso martini I’ve ever had. It was very refreshing. If you’re looking for cocktails, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Historian.
