I think people are confusing the Store and the Taqueria. The Taqueria was good. The store was not.I came in based on the reviews saying this was as good as the menudo in Texas. Spoiler alert it was not. I just moved up here from Texas so i think I am a good judge on this one. I have been trying to find my Sunday menudo replacement I used to have back in TX for months and still nothing in Michigan compares.First, the ordering process is a bit clunky. I am never sure if I need to form a line to order and then get back in line in between the crates of vegetables again to pay. This seems like an easy fix. Just pay when you order and step aside for pick up.Second, the menudo actually tasted somewhat burnt. It was overcooked to oblivion and just a mushy mess. It also seemed like it was not cleaned right and the fat was not trimmed before cooking. Hence the 3/8" layer of grease floating on top.Third, the menudo was a bit bland and had no actual menudo. 90% of the "meat" was pata and fat. I was never asked if I wanted pata they just put it in there. Some people like it but I dont. Most places ask if you want it. To be honest I am not sure what kind of "meat" it was. Hard to tell since it was over cooked and everything looked the same. On the left is the fat/pata that I could not eat. On the right was the actual menudo maybe?I have given this place too many chances and the result is the same. $12 for this mush is just not worth it. I cant speak for the other items here as I have only tried the menudo. I guess for now I will just have to keep making it at home.

Best place to buy Tamales!! Get them on the weekends and they are super fresh and still hot (temperature). Usually they are right at the counter. Just ask the cashier.

We had heard from multiple people about this place, but at both extremes. Half of the people love it, half hate it. We decided to try it for ourselves for an unbiased opinion. First, it was so loud in there, we could not converse with our table mates. Second, we have to pay for nachos? Who does that?? Third, none of the prices are listed on the menu, so you have no clue the cost (chicken fajita $20!!???) The food was okay, the drinks were fine, weak for the price, and now we know to not return.

Las Tortugas Market in Utica has limited but very fresh produce. Their spice wall has all the Mexican seasonings and chilis I need. I shop here because they have the spices and ingredients that the big chain grocery stores won't carry.

I was looking forward to trying this place and heard only great things. I ordered 5 beef and 5 chicken tacos. They told me 7min, it took 30min. The worst part was not the wait. The worst part was watching the cook wipe, pick and blow his nose while cooking my food. I stood there and watched him do it 3 times and he saw me see him but that didn't stop him. Disgusting. The food might be great and I'm sure it's better if you don't see what I saw but I'll never know.

The restaurant is more of a slow pace, and my server did not really check up on me. I special ordered chilaquiles with salsa verde without any meat, and a carne asada quesadilla. The food was great, but my Jamaica drink was amazing. This was my favorite thing, but the fried ice cream was also great. I had tons of food to take with me, and I was tempted to get a large Jamaica drink to go. There were tons of meat options, and the burritos and quesadillas were very reasonably priced.

Delicious authentic Mexican food! I love the tacos, they come with fresh onions and cilantro! I’ve had the beef, chicken and beef tongue and they are all yummy! They also make their own avocado hot sauce, it’s spicy and so tasty!

Las tortugas has the best tacos around, by far. Las tortugas in general (the market or restaurant) has the best authentic Mexican food in the area.My 3 stars is specifically for the market location. It used to be a restaurant until they added a location just south of hall rd. The new location is the restaurant now and this is just a market with their more basic foods (tacos and what not). However, since they made this change, it seems like the market is really unorganized. I order ahead every time and show up on time only to wait in line for my food and then wait in line again to pay, spending a half hour or more in the store. When this becomes more efficient, they will definitely be 5 star at this location.If you don't mind the wait, go here.If you don't want to wait, just go to the restaurant, they also do pick up orders.
