Great spot to dine. Great service. Nice menu and very courteous and friendly staff. A little out of the way but worth the drive.

Hawkshead Golf Course and Restaurant is a beautiful place out in the country near South Haven, MI . We picked it for our 50th wedding anniversary meal because of its high ratings. However, we were very disappointed. Our waitress was excellent, vey attentive and answered our menu questions honestly. She tried hard to work with my dietary restrictions (gluten free). But the food was lacking. My filet mignon was good and properly cooked, but our sides were cold and overcooked. My husband ordered lamb chops. When questioned we were informed they were small, but there wasn't enough for even a child to eat. The meal seemed very overpriced: the bill came to $175.00 with one wine, one beer, one salad, two entrees and one sorbet. I would not recommend this restaurant.

The atmosphere was warm and pleasant. We even got a private room! The service (with Amy) was excellent. And, the food (filets, white fish, and salmon) we all had was the best ever! All eight of us were thoroughly satisfied.

Disappointed. I've had many wonderful meals here in past seasons. However, tonight we waited for over an hour and change for a salad and scallops. This was after waiting 20 minutes to have our drink order taken and another 15 watching our drinks sit at the bar. They probably should not have been seating the restaurant since they were hosting a wedding reception.

Hoping to return and have a better experience in the future, but was saddened that this was my first experience of the season back at Hawks Head.

We were very disappointed. You have to pay for bread so we paid the $4. All they gave the 4 of us were 2 rolls cut in half. Then we ordered the beef tenderloin appetizer. They gave us 3 crostinis. We said something to the server and she just said “that’s how it comes.” Cmon, there’s four of us, just throw another cracker on since it’s a $21 appetizer. They also got our wine order wrong. So we left without ordering an entree and ate somewhere else. I guess 2 more dinner rolls and a crostini cost them 4 entrees. That’s a great business model

We visited on a quiet weekday evening so there was no restaurant din at all. Bar area looked lively but in the dining room, we were able to sit and talk easily. Our server was friendly and attentive. The sunflower crusted Lake Superior whitefish was outstanding as was the Angus burger. Great ambience, not at all what I expected, with floor to ceiling windows providing great views of the creek and big trees.

Alright food, although some of the steaks were overcooked or undercooked. Would recommend to get here seven hours early because that’s how long it takes for the food to arrive. Overall, decent service waiter was very nice and helpful. I was very disappointed in the overall inconsistency with the temperatures that we asked for when ordering the steak. And so forth I would conclude my review with a statement. Rust was in the water. That’s all. Thank you for reading my highly sophisticated review. I will be the food critic one day.

My husband and I celebrate our 51st wedding anniversary with a dinner at HawksHead last night. It just worked out that we were able to dine alone on the back porch aka tree house. It was a beautiful, quiet setting that we enjoyed very much. However, we were there for dinner. We have been to HawksHead for dinner many times over the years but not recently. This dinner was exceptionally excellent, flavorful and delicious! We enjoyed every bite of our lobster bisque, bread plate, Black Pearl Scottish Salmon Florentine and Lake Superior Whitefish! All prepared to perfection with lovely presentation. We ended with a Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. We have travelled to Scotland and this dessert was just as good as any Sticky Toffee Pudding we had in Scotland! We could not have been more pleased with our evening out at HawksHead! We will be returning to HawksHead again very soon for another great meal!

Great food, friends, ambiance. What more could I ask. I had the cod, and husband had the duck. Both were outstanding.

We had such a disappointing experience last night at your restaurant. We had planned a very special dinner for our nephew and niece, so we chose Hawkshead. We were informed that 3 out of the 4 main dinners were not available. We will not think of Hawkshead again when we want a special night out.

My husband and I have been to Hawks Head several times in the past. Each time we went were very happy with our dinners. Saturday’s visit was equally wonderful. On a beautiful summer day it’s difficult to leave the beach to go indoors. We were seated near the windows and felt like we were outside despite being inside. The staff could not have been nicer. I requested a drink not typically on the menu and the bar tender quickly mixed it for me. The food was delicious. The portions were so big we couldn’t finish our dinner. We were too full for desert which was too bad because they sounded wonderful. I have only one suggestion. On the menue was what sounded like an an interesting appetizer…. Potatoe chips with lots of toppings (honey, blue cheese, bacon, blueberries) We would have tried them but there was only one size and I presume it was large because it cost $18. Thank you
