This is the second time that I have been to the lodge. The first time was right after they opened. I wasn't super impressed and just did not have a reason to go back. Decided to give it another go. As many people do like the lodge. And it is okay. It is bar food. The sandwiches and burgers are overly large and thick and difficult to eat without a knife and a fork. I don't think that they are particularly great quality. They are served in baskets rather than on plates so it makes for a very messy meal. The side salad with the honey mustard dressing was good. The dressing was not too sweet and had a little spice which I appreciated. The tomatoes were pre-chopped and had been in the fridge so we're a bit mushy but otherwise the salad was fresh . I realized after I placed my order for a chicken sandwich I wasn't asked if I wanted grilled or broasted. I assumed they would just bring me the first option which was grilled, but the chicken was breaded and fried. The combination of that with some goopy toppings on the soft potato bun made it impossible to eat as a sandwich . I picked it up and the sauce and pickles slid right out . I don't like having my hands messy and sticky I realize that is a me thing and many people probably do not mind much. Considering both mine and my companion sandwiches were messy, I was surprised that we had to flag somebody down to get more napkins. One napkin is definitely not enough here. I also would have liked to have had the option of a burger that's not a double. I was going to order the veggie burger but I just can't imagine having two plant-based patties, especially if they are the impossible or beyond meat varieties that are very thick and oily. If I go again I will try the boat sandwich which looked more manageable possibly. Our server was nice and energetic. The tables and chairs could use an upgrade. I assumed when I went the first time that they were temporary fixtures. They are old fashioned and chintzy looking. They are not in bad and they are clean.
I eat out a fair amount and our choices in South Haven are limited. I would go here again with a group but it's not on my short list. It is adequate but far from fine dining. For a slight upgrade I would choose three blondes. But for very casual or if you had some rowdier kids, this place may be a good option knowing that it is essentially bar food, burgers.
I feel like this review sounds a bit worse than I mean it to be. Amongst limited choices in South Haven, it is fine. I'm not trying to warn you off or say that the food is bad. It is not. It is decent.

Their grilled chicken is very good. On a salad or a sandwich, the grilled chicken was great.

The fish basket, burgers, chicken and waffles, and white chicken chili were delicious. The chili especially. Great service and a lodge atmosphere.

We went to The Lodge for dinner on a Sunday night, and it was quite crowded — clearly a popular local spot. It’s described as a from-scratch kitchen with craft cocktails, and I’d say that’s accurate. Think dive bar vibe but with genuinely good food.

We started with the deviled eggs, which were very tasty with a super smooth filling. Nothing unusual or over-the-top creative about them, just classic and well done.

For dinner, we ordered the Original Smash Burger and the Chicken Tender meal. The burger came with chips and a side of their signature caramelized onion dipping sauce. The tenders came with three sauces — spicy ranch, comeback sauce, and barbecue. The chicken itself was broasted and incredibly tender. My personal favorite was the comeback sauce, while my husband preferred the spicy ranch.

The Smash Burger was good, but not great. It was well-cooked and flavorful, but I missed the crispy edges that usually make a smash burger stand out.

Overall, it was a great casual night out. The atmosphere is laid-back, the food is solid, and the service kept up well despite the crowd. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the South Haven area and looking for good food in a relaxed environment.

We had dinner there the other day. I had the perch platter that was nicely cooked and seasoned. My other half had a quesadilla black beans, corn and cheese that wasn't just on the inside but was fried crispy with the tortilla. Wonderful! The service was wonderful even though they were busy. Highly recommended.
