I had a really disappointing experience at Lucas Coney Island today. I called in one simple breakfast item for pickup, and the total came to around $13 and some change. I handed the cashier $24 and then waited for my change back.
To my surprise, instead of getting my change, the staff just said “Have a nice day” and basically expected me to walk out. When I pointed out that I had given them $24 and was waiting on my change, the cashier seemed to think I was just leaving them a $10 tip by default.
Look, I totally understand tipping when there’s actual table service, but this was just a phone order that I picked up myself. The cashier is paid an hourly wage, not a server relying on tips. It felt really presumptuous and unprofessional for them to just pocket the change without asking.
Overall, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Lucas Coney is a great little place to get a coney or have breakfast any time of the day. Everyone there is really friendly and the prices are reasonable.

Good classic Coney Island with an expansive menu. It's cheap and the potions and decent. They have a drive-through whitch is very convent for pick up.

I truly cannot fathom the 4.5 start rating. It competes for the worst food I've ever had. The cheese steak was just 5 sheets of steakums cooked to crispy paper and layered on top of each other with a few grocery store slices of cheese laid on top. The chili and cheese are 7 eleven tier, which means it's probably the best thing on the menu. Maybe the breakfast is decent? I'll never find out.

Nice menu, something for everyone. Waitresses are nice and efficient. Although, they do keep clearing the dishes around you. They like short turnovers.
