Hidden Gem Restaurant

My daughter had a sweet 16 gathering here. Very nice venue. Great customer service. The staff is very accepting and attentive. We had a party of 15 and didn’t have to ask for anything. Definitely a hidden gem. I’ll be back.

My wife and I were in from out of town for a conference, and we stumbled upon The Hidden Gem for dinner. We were floored by the great soul food they had !!

We had catfish, perch, collard greens and signature potatoes. Every. Single. Dish was delightful !! The caramel/chocolate sauce cheesecake topped off the night.

Hidden Gem is just that! It is definitely a vibe. From the atmosphere, the music and the service. The curry goat was AMAZING as was the jerk chicken and turkey chops. My sister and I very much enjoyed sitting at the bar with the owner who was such a cool guy. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Very much a great vibe for a cute date night. I will definitely be back!

Hidden Gem is a little restaurant on the ground floor on a high rise on 9 mile. Easy to miss if you're not looking for it!

The inside of the restaurant is nice, it's well decorated and cozy.

The menu is a little limited but has everything you'd expect for a little date night restaurant. A bit of a soul food vibe. The portions were not good for the cost and everything was a little too salty and overly buttery for my taste. I had the goat curry and my wife had the wings which were good but ended up being like $4 per wing which is a little ridiculous.

Service was good, our waitress was nice and attentive but the restaurant was entirely empty.

This restaurant needs a makeover. Me and my partner came here for dinner the atmosphere is pretty, nice decor and lighting with good music, although I did notice that the tablecloth for our table was dirty. We had a sweet server, she was very understanding when it came to us getting our food taken off the bill so I’m understanding that this is most likely a frequent occurrence. I ordered the catfish dinner with Mac n cheese and the potatoes. Potatoes were ok but the Mac n cheese tasted exactly like the cheddar broccoli noodles you get in the package ifykyk 0/10. The catfish was fried well but as I kept eating it looked undercooked in certain places. My partner ordered the lambchops and they were very undercooked. My partner couldn’t even enjoy his meal he didn’t like any of it hence why we got it taken off the bill. The place is disappointing. Quality food is key when running a restaurant, I’ll be damned if I’m paying $40+ just for my lambchops to be undercooked. The restaurant needs new management and chefs. Not to mention when you first walk in the front glass door is shattered from a bullet hitting it.

I hate to leave a review. Especially a negative one but this place really has some audacity. It’s basically somebody’s decorated basement. Yes it looks cute but it’s tiny and congested and cheap and I don’t mean the prices. Actually the prices are quite the opposite not only that, but the owner thinks he can be shiesty and pull one over on the customers and try to get even more money out of them as well even after they’ve already left the establishment. I came here to support a friend and I can assure I will never be back here or encourage people to check it out. You can have a much better experience, food, and way better drinks that don’t come in a solo cup at any other city any other restaurant for the price they try to make you pay. They clearly want business so I don’t know why they make sure people don’t come back? God bless y’all though. Good business comes with morals and professionalism.

My husband and I stopped in today 8-2-25 trying to support. We ordered wings and Mac and cheese he had 1 crab cakes with sweet potato fries and greens. The greens were pretty good but the chicken was brown on the inside to the bone a sign to me of old chicken the mac and cheese was not the best. It seems like it was reheated with added cheese.
I did not complain as my husband ate the food to not be embrassed but I don't want people to experience the didappointment I did.
The staff was nice. Don't forget 18 % gratuity is added to the bill.

I went there for a birthday dinner. I ordered catfish at 8 pm as well as a kids meal. I was not told they were out of catfish until my sister’s food came out (ordered at the same time) at 9 pm. I then ordered a turkey chop. Waited about 45 minutes. When asking where my food was. The waiter said “oh, we ran out”. I then ordered a steak that did not come out until 10. It was disgusting and undercooked. My baby did not get her food until 10:15. They did not make the food based off of how it was ordered because there were many people getting their food before I did. My baby didn’t eat until 10pm and she didn’t even receive the whole order. There were at least 7 meals we told them we didn’t want anymore because they took over two hours to make. At the end they decided to give us a 10 percent discount.
