National Coney Island

I usually go to this coney island one to two times a week, but this visit was the worse. I ordered the breakfast special grits, bacon, eggs over hard and rye toast. The grits was brown and when I ask the waitress why it was brown she said it must be because it’s in a cup, the toast had so much butter it soaked through. I work at the home depot right next door so it’s easy to grab something to eat but I think this will be my last visit. The food was TERRIBLE.l

I walked in sat down and was told from across the restaurant that I had to order from the take out line. So being confused about this, I went up and ordered. Right away the tip screen popped up on the credit card pad. I was confused about it so I didn't tip if this was going to be cafeteria style situation. I then filled my own take out cup with water and sat down. About 5 minutes later my food was brought out to me on a cafeteria tray and plopped down on the table and the sever left without saying a word. Everything was on take out style containers. Then you had to throw away your own scrap.
I don't know what is going on with National Coney Island but the whole experience sucked! The fries were undercooked and I asked for chilli with beans and received without beans. And the container was only filled a little more than half way.
Definitely not going back to any National Coney Islands soon. I know that they are always skimpy on the French fries but this whole experience was bad!

National Coney Island is an icon in metro Detroit. The food is always great, the service is always impeccable, and most important the cost is always affordable. We in metro Detroit wouldn't be who we are without it

Absolutely terrible customer service. Came in at 8:30pm for a cream puff dessert and a basket of fries with my wife. Only to have to listen to young female employee behind the counter complain to Andy for several minutes on whose job it was to make the cream puff. Andy was mopping the floor heavy with bleach and less loud and aggressive than the young loud female behind the counter. Said 4 or 5 times loudly I’ll just tell the next customer we’re out of the ingredients for the cream puffs so we don’t have to make them.

All while we’re sitting sipping our waters 5 feet from where we placed our orders.

My husband and I went here after leaving Berkley Coney Island due to them getting our order wrong TWICE. the atmosphere was instantly better. There was nice music, it was bright, and the hostess was very polite. They got our order quick and correct. I love how small they cut the tomatoes on the buffalo Hani as well

Classic diner, great Hani from which all other wraps are based. Finally have real silverware again. Pleasant staff.

Destiny, Ashley and Dave were amazing all around, restaurant was clean, all customers looked happy and comfortable and I was amongst them.

My pregnant diabetic sister asked for a lettuce wrap and all the line cook was doing was talking bad about how it's a waste of lettuce. And continued talking bad about her, after the kind cashier hinted to him we were right there. He said I don't care and continued on. Completely rude and unacceptable. Will not be returning.

Absolutely ridiculous the cook was sitting there talking about how my diabetic, pregnant wife wanted a lettuce wrap knowing we were sitting right there. The kind lady at the register even told him we were sitting there to try and hunt towards him to stop, instead he said “ oh I know “. Not ok at all, and will not be returning.
