Nippon Sushi - Southfield

This is a great hidden gem for your sushi fix in Southfield. The restaurant, while nestled in a strip mall, has a fresh and contemporary look and feel. The staff was super friendly and I really enjoyed my selections on both visits (went back a second day in a row). I stuck with rolls and one expensive but melt-in-your-mouth piece of fatty tuna. Great food. The hamachi cheek appetizer was delicious and the unagi roll was equally tasty. Sashimi a la carte was fresh and plentiful. Also nabbed the last piece of uni. Now ..why only three stars? The service was super spotty. It became clear that the lone sushi chef was overwhelmed by all of the to go orders. He was working hard but they needed someone else helping him. Absolutely fabulous service and foods. Our group of 6 tried many different rolls and appetizers and every bit was full of fresh flavor and well made. Will absolutely suggest this if you love sushi or want to try it for the first time!
