It grieves me to give a negative review on a Black owned company, however management wasn’t present to give direct back to nor was there an email that I could share my concerns with.

I recognize that serving as larger party can be difficult, so we packed our patience for our most recent visit although we weren’t visiting during “peak “ hours. Initially things were moving a reasonable pace, but shortly after our entire 11 member party was present, things pretty much hit an abrupt halt.

Our server took an order of drinks, after 25 minutes of no update , I interfered about my drink order. She immediately said that she was heading to grab it . She brought 2/11 drinks out. 🙃
In the midst of only receiving only 2 drinks, food begin to roll out. The first batch of food included cold catfish, a cold waffle and additional pancakes, that we were unable to attach to an order. After the time in which it to received food the bare minimum expectation is that the food would be hot.

After the first batch of food underwhelming some of the guest, we requested to speak to a manager. Our waitress left to get the manager… only to arrive 15 minutes later and explain there was no manager on site today/during this shift. 🥴 She attempted to explain that there was confusion with the new way to input drinks and she had intended to ask the table for their drink orders again… 45 minutes after the initial order placement.

I ordered the strawberry Cheesecake waffles, the menu indicates that it includes cheesecake bites, and strawberry drizzle. I ordered a side of turkey sausage. I must have missed the memo, but my order included chicken. I wouldn’t have ordered the sausage had I know it included chicken. I would highly recommend the head chef considering a different brand of turkey sausage or eliminating the options. The turkey sausage was awful! Cold and flavorless!

Another bartender, Ty came over and took a separate drink order and our entire party received drinks within 15 minutes. Ty was most definitely the silver lining for our visit. At the tail end of our visit, the karaoke was starting… while we were able to enjoy and sing a long a bit we ultimately chose to leave .

I’m wishing all the best to this business and I hope the right person receives this feedback and create systems that prevent future guest from having a similar experience.

Talking about the best Duo. Brie and Rell made my first time experience memorable.! My drink perfection. Strong, but tolerable yet favorable. Those Alfredo wings with broccoli 🔥🔥 Gumbo wings never heard of but they didn’t disappoint. So fresh and delicious. Presentation everything. They both held it down on a Friday, day shift. I will be back and I expect to see the perfect Duo B&R.

Table for six, food for the table not delivered together with more than 20 minutes between each delivery. Food came out cool or luke warm, we had to send food back to be warmed up.
Service was slow, but attentive when there. It seems like there weren't enough staff to cover the tables.

I felt like they were all here just for me. My own chef and bartender. They paid attention to me and my pain in the butt requests. Loved it. Definitely come here.

I had been here before but I didn't have dinner. This time I had the loaded gumbo and it was delicious! Could have been a little more spicy for gumbo but it was great and I also had the fried strawberry cheesecake and that was delicious as well. A waitress good but she kept disappearing and right before I got irritated she would always pop back up LOL

The chicken and waffles were okay. While I requested overlooking of the chicken, it was somewhat overcooked too much. There was no posting of the gratuity automatically being included in the bill of three, which was fine because I am a tipster. My issue was the bill has a cash price and a card price, which was also fine but I had the exact cash amount of $20.73 and I was told they don't accept change and I was asked to give a dollar in place of the change and I wasn't given my $0.22 change. I could have paid with my debit card to avoid that issue but then I would have been charged a higher amount for using my card.

TRUE HEART PRODUCTS

Wonderful food, the staff is very nice and hospitable. Can be loud at times, but asked and was accommodated with volume turned down a bit—believe there was a bday celebration going on. We went for brunch and enjoyed it thoroughly!

If I could provide zero stars I would. This was one of the most unprofessional and upsetting dining experiences my family has ever had.

My elderly aunt made a lunch reservation weeks in advance for my mother and me on Christmas Eve at 1:00 p.m. A $25 deposit was taken, confirming the reservation. When we arrived at the scheduled time, the restaurant was completely closed.

We spoke with hotel staff, who indicated that the restaurant was a separate entity, were kind and clearly caught off guard themselves. They contacted the bar manager and owner and asked us to wait in the hotel lobby. After some time, a staff member returned and said she had spoken with them and requested my aunt’s information, assuring us that the owner would call her within minutes to fix the situation.

That call never came.

At that point, we had no choice but to leave. Even if the restaurant had opened, there would have been prep time and my mother who is diabetic and cannot wait to eat. We left my vehicle at the hotel, rode with my aunt, and thankfully found lunch elsewhere.

Hours later, still no call from the owner. When we returned to the hotel, my aunt went back inside to see if anyone could help. A manager was present and refunded her deposit. While the refund was necessary, it does not excuse the lack of accountability or communication.

This was handled terribly. The owner should have followed through on his word and contacted her personally. Reservations should never have been available and deposits should never have been accepted, if the restaurant was not going to be open. Elderly guests do not make last-minute plans, and it is completely unacceptable that no one checked the reservation book or contacted her in advance to correct this error.

Christmas Eve is not the day to leave people, especially elderly guests with medical conditions, standing in a hotel lobby wondering why a confirmed reservation doesn’t exist. This experience was careless, disorganized, and deeply unprofessional.
