The Ruben is to die for. Maybe even better than the Breadbasket. It's a bit on the expensive expensive side, though. $18 for a sandwich. The inside is definitely on the old dumpy side, but you don't go their for the atmosphere. You go their for excellent food.
The food can be excellent or bad depending on whether they give you dry or moist slices. I examined a sandwich that had dry slices and they said I didn't know anything about corned beef, I may not work there but have been around the food industry long enough to tell bad from good. After reluctantly slicing new sandwiches they were great, just own up if the sandwiches are not up to par and give a fresh quality product each time out.
I ordered a corned beef and pastrami sandwich ( it's called Harry's sandwich) and it didn't have a lot of meat on it , for $16.99 youd think itd come with 8 or 9oz of meat but it appeared as if there was barely 4oz of meat. I was happy with everything except for the most important part of the sandwich and that's the meat. Star deli please make sure that your customers get their money's worth and put more meat, especially at them high prices that you charge.
