Something told me to turn around when I walked in, but I regretfully did not. The service here was sub par, as the lady taking orders was very condescending to an elderly lady who had questions about what she was purchasing. The server seemed to have an attitude with each person that came in (Southern Hospitality out of the window). I spent over $80 on food that wasn't anything to be desired. I could have done better at a Coney Island. The waffles were soggy, chicken was dry, and I was told that my order couldn't be fulfilled the way it shows on the menu because they don't serve chicken strips anymore, after I placed my order and was paying. I get that restaurants are short staffed during this time but this was just bad. I'll never go again.

The smothered pork chops are addictive. Greens have a unique yet tasty flavor. The mashed potatoes had lumps in them which means they were made from real potatoes! Very pleased!

Food was terrible. The greens were either overcooked or just old. The Mac and cheese was bland, and the catfish was over cooked and super salt. The meal was $22. I about fell out cuz they only give you one small scoop of the sides. I try to support black owned, but I will never go here again. This business is taking advantage of us with ridiculous prices for food that's not good.

Talk about an overpriced experience! I am a southern/soul food loving person. Can't get enough of it. I have gone to various restaurants all around the country. Going to this one resulted in an empty wallet when we left. Food was decent ... I didn't hate it but given the price I would have expected much better quality.

Disappointed! Prices increased 50% for 2022 and taste of food declined 100%. The food was not good at all - never going back there again! Next time I'll head across the street to Beans & Cornbread, the taste of their food has been consistent for over 25 years

The food is mediocre at best and overpriced. I visited SM a few das ago and ordered the catfish meal with Mac & cheese and dressing and a cup of koolaide. The catfish was decent but the sides lacked flavor and for the price and taste, the portions were small. The koolaide felt like it was missing something. I was raised on soul food and while the meals may be inspired by soul food, the food and service lacks SOUL. To make matters worse, the staff has the audacity to be unprofessional. Which is very unfortunate because I was excited to find a have a new soul food spot. Now I did visit a few times before I decided to completely write them off. But this place needs new management, new recipes and better training ASAP. Being a black owned business is just not enough. I cannot say that I will be back.

It's not as good as it used to be the macaroni was a little dry it used to be creamy. The ribs had no flavor, fries were soggy, chicken wasn't crispy, and they gave a tiny piece of cornbread I don't think i will return. Even though the food wasn't good the customer service was great they were very friendly.

They are closed except for carry out but the restaurant don't turn there lights on. My hubby almost fell trying to get to the door. If you open for dining get a sign that says that and turn the lights on so people can see at night, if not just close the restaurant completely.

Carry Out only due to Covid. We went through a list of restaurants we wanted this Sunday , and when we named Sweet Magnolia’s we got a room full of Yes !I ordered the “Sweet Louie” .. a Belgian waffle & Hot wings , I loved it. My husband inhaled his food.. — bbq chicken wings with Mac-n-cheese & sweet potatoes, he said the sweet potatoes weren’t soft enough. My Pastor ordered baked chicken & gravy with green beans and red beans … he said 3 stars because they fell off and the koolaid was the best part of his meal.

I was hungry, coming from an appointment, my first thought was Cornbread Restaurant but it was going to be a wait I was sure of that and decided to stop at the deli for a cornbeef sandwich but turned too soon and Magnolias was in my face...I picked the Catfish dinner with Macaroni n cheese and green beans w/potatoes and smoked turkey. I live in Livonia and thought it was going to be cold. It wasn't and it was Sooo Good.... Will try their Oxtails next.

Worst Sunday meal everI ordered a grilled wings with collard greens-mac&cheese. The grilled wings were hard definitely over cooked or old & very small. Very rubbery. The greens had no flavor at all. I’m sure canned greens are better. The Mac and cheese are just noodles. I don’t know what’s going on. It use to be so much better.

I had a full pan of mac and cheese, candid yams and dressing catered for my Thanksgiving day meal and they did not disappoint. It was well over what we needed and supper good. My family was definitely satisfied. Kiss the Cook ???

OMG. My favorite place for the greatest carry out SOUL food. Can't wait until I can sit down for inside dining. And the Turkey Meatloaf is AWESOME.?
