Captain Jay's Fish & Chicken

I ordered the cod dinner and got perch that smelled like used aquarium gravel. I've given this place a few chances and that was the last.

First I wanted to start by saying I came here to leave a review about what I witnessed firsthand yesterday. Two women came inside and requested to speak with a manager which someone went to go get from the back. The manager came to the front very politely and professionally and offered help. The one woman started to scream at her over being put on hold over the phone(while they were busy) and tell her how she wanted to call corporate because there wasent enough employees in the building. The manager who then stated her name later was joey and continued to ask the lady if she wanted to order and the lady kept saying no. She just wanted to fuss at the poor employees.

Besides from that I want to say how great the staff is everytime I come here. Food is always hot and fresh as well. 10/10 for me.

Some people go to church. I go to Captain Jays. My life is just a series of valleys separated by the peaks that are experiencing Captain Jay’s food. I’m not sure how they can serve food so fast and so hot. I come here a couple times a month and I’ve legitimately never had a single issue.

I have given this place plenty of opportunities to prove that they are great. The first time I ever visited here is around when they first open. The wait times were a little long, but it was totally worth it because the food was awesome!

However, the last couple of times I have ordered from here, it has been nothing but a nightmare. 20+ minute wait times when there’s barely anybody in line, completely missing items (literally the last 3 times I was went), and bland under seasoned food. Why I kept coming back even after all that? I guess I really just wanted the same food I had the first time because again, it really was AWESOME.

However, the nail in the coffin is when my fiancee stopped by there on her way home from work and got cod. Mind you she never really eats fish all too much so she’s not familiar with it. When she brought her food into the house and opened it, it smelled so foul. She was under the impression that cod was a little smelly like salmon and could not fully smell it to the full extent while it was packaged and in a bag. If I wouldn’t have said anything she more than likely would’ve ate it. However, I doubt she would’ve been able to because it would have tasted awful. It seriously smelt rancid.

How this went over the employees head and they thought it was okay to serve that is crazy to me. It’s obvious that they are serving bad food, which is going to end up making somebody sick or worse, kill somebody. This place will never get a dime of my money again, which honestly, I am pretty upset about because I really did enjoy their food at first.

Hopefully whoever owns this restaurant can really take a look at their management and staff and make this place as good as it was when it first opened.

I came to give this place a try around 12pm today and when i tell you the Food was wonderful and tasted great. Everything was fresh and hot right out the grease. Cashier was very respectful and had great customer service.

Passing thru heading home, decided to stop and get some food. It is 8:18pm and we hit the drive thru. Ordered 3 simple things....2 piece catfish, 10 piece large shrimp and a large pepsi. $16.28. Now there's NOBODY in line im front of us and NOBODY inside eating. Should be quick right? Nope. Waited 16 minutes for our order . Well, we thought...at least it will be fresh and hot. Let me tell you...the only thing good was the pop. Got Tilipia instead of catfish and the LARGE shrimp were 90% batter and once I got to the shrimp, they were sooooo overcooked they were like leather. Not even the cocktail sauce could save them. One and done for me too. I actually want my money back. If anyone from corporate sees this....please contact me. It was terrible. Should have went to White Castle instead. But decided to give this place a try. What a mistake. Anyone reading this...save your money and go elsewhere.

I couldn't taste my perch because the breading overwhelmed it. I couldn't have told you what was under the breading, whether it was fish or chicken. I should have looked better at the menu because I wouldn't have ordered the fries if I knew they were also coated. I had hopes for at least the Cheese sticks, but they were also bad. Somehow the cheese never melted inside the breading, so it was like eating the individual cold cheese sticks from the store. Will not order from this franchise again.

When they first opened the place was on point everything was good and the service was great. Going there now the service is ok (ordered food they didn't tell us they were out of things but we still got charged for) even though it was taken care of I had to go back up there to pick up the replacement items that they didn't put in the bag but charged me for it initially

The food was amazing and fresh! Jose was excellent with great communication skills! And the atmosphere was very chill and relaxed!! I highly recommend this place.

First of all, my order was taken wrong. I ordered jumbo shrimp and they gave me large. Then I waited for jumbo shrimp and paid the difference in price and they looked just like the large. It was a total waste of money and time. They need to remove shrimp from their menu. On top of that, I ordered a small fried okra and fries and they looked like 1/2 orders and were not hot. Never again!!!
