Very disappointing experience. We walked into Al Masgoof and immediately noticed that the restaurant looked old, unclean, and poorly maintained. Despite there being only one other customer in the restaurant, the service was some of the worst I’ve experienced.
The waitress was rude from the moment we arrived. She never greeted us, never welcomed us in, and simply dropped the menus on the table before walking away. After looking over the menu, we were ready to order and spent about 15 minutes trying to get her attention. We repeatedly looked her way and attempted to make eye contact, but she completely ignored us.
To make matters worse, she disappeared into the back, and we could hear staff laughing and carrying on while we sat waiting for service. With virtually no customers in the restaurant, there was no excuse for being ignored for that long.
After waiting and receiving no service whatsoever, we got up and left without ordering. Customer service starts with a simple greeting and basic attentiveness, and unfortunately this restaurant failed on both. Between the rude service, lack of professionalism, and the dirty, outdated appearance of the restaurant, we will not be returning.

This was our first visit and we couldn't have been any happier. The good was amazing! We had the mixed grill and baba gabouch and Iraqi salad. Vet friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

Stopped in today to order a take out and the employee at the counter took three phone orders while I stood directly in front of him. When he answered a fourth call I walked out.

The masgouf was very delicious, and the staff were very friendly. Thank you.
Since they don't offer online pickup, I'm uploading the latest menu in case you want to call ahead.
This seems to be an authentic Iraqi restaurant. I ordered the grilled pomfret fish. It's a lot better than the American fried fish.
However the skin side is totally burnt. I'm not sure if this is normal for them but that side is not edible. So I gave 4 stars.

This place was top notch, now its going downhill. The owner should pay attention to people’s feedback and save his business before it’s over.
Fish smelled and taster old , burnt. Slow service
And no attentive staff
Overpriced. I won’t come back until they fix the problems

we weren't seated when walked in as opposed to other customers who were, it was a stuffy area, werent given menus until a derver was flagged down, free starters had bread and thats all, weren't checked on unless flagged down, tables weren't manicured once (napkins, plates, trash picked up and out of the way) good was slow and we ordered baba ghanooj and tabouilla came later on, when we ordered food it took almost an hour and wasn't brought until we asked for the bill for the food we got and ate so we couldnleave, insisted on us staying and brought food 5 minutes later after the chef told us to calm down (we were asking for our bill as we had places to go.) boxes weren't given. we also watched multiple other tables come in well after us and recieve food well before us. wont come back ever again considering the ignoring of our table and disrespect.

We came here specifically to try the Iraqi masgouf, and it honestly exceeded expectations. The fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and grilled beautifully with that authentic smoky flavor that’s hard to find outside of Iraq. You can tell they take their time preparing it properly instead of rushing the food.
The portions were generous and everything tasted homemade and authentic. The side dishes, bread, and appetizers paired perfectly with the meal, and the overall presentation was very nice. The restaurant itself was clean, comfortable, and had a welcoming atmosphere.
What stood out the most was the quality of the food and how friendly and respectful the staff were throughout the entire visit. Service was attentive, and even while the restaurant was busy, we still felt taken care of.
Definitely one of the best places I’ve had masgouf in Michigan. If you’re looking for authentic Iraqi food with great flavor, fresh ingredients, and excellent service, I highly recommend this place. I’ll absolutely be coming back again.
