Beautiful location. Wine tasted good. Really would like to recommend this place, but can't do it.
The Bistro Polaris starters/plates/dishes are, let's say, very bugie, with the exception of the pizza. Pizza was good and plenty.
We ordered the Veggie Crudite (see pic) for $9 with hummus to start with. We got a total of 8 very thin slices of celery, pepper and two halves of a tiny radish with 2 tbsp of hummus. The entrée-size salads were overpriced as well.
The place is labeled as kid-friendly, but has no kid friendly food, no playground. We hoped the goats would make up for it, but no. The goat feed vending machine ($$) was empty. And don't pet the goats.
Again, beautiful place, you can hop from the bistro to the tasting room, etc. But plan for another meal and ice cream stop afterwards.
Hope they will review their strategy and make this more inviting to come back.
Great wines and awesome service!
Stumbled on this place looking for the Tesla charger. Found it and then stayed for the delicious pizza and lovely scenery, beautiful place, excellent service and atmosphere, absolutely loved it!
Great stop, beautiful grounds, nice people and good wine
5 Stars – A Perfect Wedding at Black Star Farms
We just got married at Black Star Farms, and it was truly everything we dreamed of and more. The venue is absolutely stunning—set against the beautiful backdrop of Northern Michigan, it offered the perfect mix of elegance, charm, and natural beauty.
From the very beginning, the staff was incredible. Every single person we worked with went above and beyond to make sure our day was flawless. They were professional, organized, kind, and genuinely excited to help bring our vision to life. We never felt like just another wedding—they made it feel personal and special every step of the way.
Everything exceeded our expectations—from the planning process to the ceremony and reception. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the venue, the food, and the overall experience. If you're considering Black Star Farms for your wedding, do it. You won't regret it.
Thank you to the entire team for making our day so magical!

I am a wedding coordinator from Victorias floral in Benzonia, I had the pleasure of coordinating a wedding here recently and worked with the event coordinator, Meghan, leading up to the wedding and the day of. She was FANTASTIC to work with! She was responsive, caring and very knowledgeable of all things wedding and black star farms! Her and her staff that night made the wedding run so smoothly! I look forward to working with her in the future! BSF knew what they were doing when they put her in that role! Great job, Meghan!
We arrived from Indianapolis with 30 minutes before your closing time. The hostess acted like she didn’t want to seat us and made a point of saying we close at 6:00. We all ordered a flight and drank as quickly as we could because we felt under pressure. We thought closing at 6:00 meant you don’t let anyone in afterwards not that we had to walk out at 6:00. We had just come from Mawby winery and had the most welcoming experience so we’re not expecting what we stepped in to. Also we wanted to buy wine to take with us. When entering the store to pay our ticket and buy a bottle we were even more disappointed in the lady that checked us out . She was RUDE and seemed like we were putting her out for being there at that time. Highly disappointed! I’ve never been to Michigan wineries but will never come back to Black Star and would never recommend your venue! I’m giving you 2 stars because I liked the wine.
Quiet possibly the bear winery in the Midwest! Situated in the Napa of the mid west actually. You will not find better red wines anywhere east of the Mississippi then Black Star Farms. If you like spirits this is also your place. Hospitality will not be matched anywhere. Don't fear if you're a sweet wine lover, this place is the best around!
Also the inn is amazing and is something you should truly consider experiencing m
The wine tasting was very fun and the staff were helpful in recommending different wines depending on taste preference. The snowshoe hike was beautiful.
We had a fantastic time exploring!

Enjoyed the Polish dinner. Good food, friendly staff, and music from A to Z.
I have been going to Black Star Farms for over 20 years. Yes my favorite Michigan winery! As a member of the BSF's wine club, I have stayed many times at the Inn also.
have some family friends that came to a wine club dinner about 8 years ago. They use to live in California, visited Napa Valley a lot. took them to 3 + other Winery's, they both said BSF's was the best!!! Good luck in the next 25 years!!
State of the Art tasting room. Restraunt, and miles of hiking trails too enjoy. Friendly staff, other location on Old Mission pennisula.
Staff was super informative and courteous...will definitely return, highly recommend you check them out
Had the most incredible wine/dinner pairing experience tonight! The food served was amazing and the wines were perfectly paired and did NOT disappoint. The service was flawless. We thoroughly enjoyed the introduction by the Hostess and Chef of the food and wine selections. Loved the beautiful property, atmosphere and conversations shared with the community dinning style tables. Overall this was a wonderful and deginately worthwhile experience. We would highly recommend Black Star Farms to anyone looking for a fine dinning experience. We certainly look forward to treating ourselves to more of their gourmet wine and dine evenings.
