This place! 1st of all, the drive up to Shady Lanes was a GORGEOUS winter wonderland. Shady Lanes itself sits in beautiful property. The staff were VERY friendly and helpful! There’s an outside area for sitting and due to the cold, they had these plastic igloos set up. My partner and I grabbed some mulled wine (of which I cannot stop thinking about) and we sat and snuggled in one of the igloos next to the heater! We had an amazing little intimate experience. It was beyond relaxing and cozy! We can’t wait to revisit when it’s warmer out!

Came here back in October and loved it so much I wanted to visit again with my brother. They have a good selection of dry to semi dry wines which was right up my palette! Bill was amazing and even helping upkeep the fire pit right outside. When we got too cold to be outside we had the option of either enjoying our wine inside or in the multiple heated igloo rooms which was a nice touch and allowed space to enjoy everything without being overcrowded. Overall 10/10 and can’t wait to come back in the spring/summer!

If you’re thinking of kicking back at Shady Lane Cellars this winter over wine and snacks, think twice. Yes, Shady Lane reds are delicious. Yes, they offer a fine charcuterie board. But they sour the experience with miserly half-filled glasses. The winery is entitled to turn a profit. But approximately $90 from a $22 bottle of pinot noir? Shady Lane has plenty of competitors on the Leelanau and Old Mission peninsulas. Try those and see if you have a more enjoyable experience.

Beautiful in the summer, but the COZIEST place in winter! A groomed XC ski trail through the vineyard, from the TART parking lot, to the tasting room. Indoor and outdoor fires. Hot mulled wine??!
More people should use the ski trails, taking a lap through the vines and ducking in for a cozy cup was just glorious. Some of the best wine anywhere around TC too. Highly, highly recommend.

So went in during a wine tour. Got our free taste and our food then went to go to the bar to have more tastes and we’re asked to step away from the bar because that is only for selling/serving. We did not even get a chance to look at the menu when we wanted to pay for more tastings. Very frustrating to be asked to leave when we didn’t get a chance to look at the menu.
