Super friendly owners! Came for blueberry picking and we were greeted like we were old friends. There was plenty of berries to pick and plenty of bushes. Highly recommend!

Friendly owners, great blueberries and peaches. Sure you can get them cheaper at Meijer, but we come here for fun and experience.Ice cream is great too!Make a morning out of it, enjoy the scenic drive and pick some yummy blueberries P.S. Pie turned out delicious ?

We've been picking berries here for many years in mid August. A great first time experience and then just keep coming back.

The tastiest blueberries you've ever had. Picking blueberries is easy and a great kids activity.

We have been picking here (family of five with 3 school age kids) once a summer for a few years, in August. Blueberries are always amazing, and we love to share a pint of blueberry ice cream to reward ourselves for the hard work. Highly recommended!

The stars are for the amazing ice cream, the sweet farm pups, and the wonderful young folk who work the stand here.Yesterday, I had a very poor experience with the owner. To wind down from a busy week of work, my family had planned to visit the blueberry hill to stock up on berries for the week. As always, I called the information line to listen for any updates and to make sure they were still offering blueberries. While listening to the recorded message it was mentioned that there were some peaches available. I misunderstood this as meaning that we could also pick peaches. When I arrived at the hill, I followed the signs to receive instructions inside the stand (sometimes there is someone giving instructions at the outside table, but it was empty.) Inside the stand, my containers were weighed and labelled but I received zero instruction on how to pick, where to pick, and where not to pick, even as I was mentioning peaches.I picked the peaches. When I returned to the stand to pay, I was immediately met by the owner who asked who gave me permission to pick them. I admitted that no one had, and that I had misunderstood the phone message. She was clearly (and understandably) upset. I apologized for my mistake. I should have explicitly asked for instructions, instead of assuming I could just go wherever I wanted on their farm. I asked what I could do to fix what I'd done but the owner continued to vent her frustration to me about my mistake and how wrong I was, never acknowledging my apology or request to make amends. My 3rd and 4th graders even began apologizing to her (even though it wasn't their fault!) and she also refused to acknowledge their apologies. Instead, she continued to lecture me about how to behave at a u-pick farm. After some time of this, my husband, who had been waiting in the car, realized something was up and approached to see what the issue was and that's when she finally agreed to let me pay for the peaches so that I could leave.I've lived in northern Michigan for most of my life and have the utmost respect for local growers. It was wrong of me to visit this farm and assume that I could pick something without asking. However, I've also been a loyal Buchan's customer, bringing my family to both the blueberry hill on Old Mission and the ice cream shop (Buchan’s West Bay) since it first opened. When friends visit from out of town I tell them "You gotta go to Buchan's!" We make family trips to both locations. I buy yummy gifts there for people. My kids even have the t-shirts.I hope my experience with the owner was just her having a bad day and not typical because, to put it kindly, she was incredibly rude. She also made me feel unsafe, both by her behavior towards me and her behavior towards my children.I can no longer recommend the farm or the in-town ice cream shop as a fun family outing. For those planning a visit, I would suggest making contact with the owner before you venture out to make sure you have ALL of the info to pick responsibly and to avoid any miscommunications.
