This is my husband and I’s favorite restaurant in all of traverse city! It’s a real treat, and we come back every month for date night. Nicole and Forrest are amazing hosts!
Forrest, A Food Studio is one of those rare, special places that exist only because the people behind them are made of pure magic. Forrest and Nicole pour their passion into every dish and drink they serve and it shows in every plate, every pour, and every interaction.
This isn’t just a restaurant; it feels like a family gathering with your favorite relatives. The attention to detail in the food is exceptional, and somehow, each bite seems to outdo the last.
Visiting them has become a yearly tradition during our trips to TC. And each experience is truly unique. I’ve tried to express my gratitude to them for creating such a beautiful and welcoming space, but I think the only way to truly understand is to experience it for yourself.
Forest a Food Studio is a unique and delightful dining experience.
Every dish and detail is thoughtfully curated and evolves with the seasons each month. The food is delectable and artfully crafted, and the impeccable service is a well choreographed dance from the opening notes on food and wine pairings to the sweet surprise at the end of each meal.
A true gem in Traverse City not to be missed.
Simply fabulous. Truly an exceptional epicurean experience. Gracious and knowledgeable hosts. Chef Forrest and lovely Nicole treat their guests like royalty.
Forrest A Food Studio is a little gem tucked neatly into the quaint Old Town of Traverse City.

The food was phenomenal, the wine was fantastic. The whole idea of what they're doing was just so cool and we had a really great time. Thank you!

While I haven't had the opportunity to experience the dinner menu....yet, I love stopping in to pick up a great bottle of wine! They have a small yet wonderfully curated selection of wines that I just can't find other places. Plus, Forest, one of the owners, is super knowledgeable about the wines and is always wanting to make a good suggestion. Now I just need to get some dinner reservations because every time I stop in it always smells amazing. Go check it out!

Our family had the good fortune of obtaining reservations for the July 2024 menu. The food was truly amazing and out of this world! Each course was carefully prepared and explained by the husband/wife team who also were the hosts and servers! The courses were delivered in a communal setting where you got to make friends with other diners which was fun for us as out of town guests. We have been to some of the top restaurants in the world and live near Sonoma/Napa and this food stands out in quality and creativity with anyone! You have to try this place - just don't forget to get your reservation at 8am on the first of each month :)

Discovering Forrest, A Food Studio was like finding a hidden gem tucked away in Traverse City. Walking in, the ambiance immediately felt like a warm embrace, with a wall of coat hooks inviting us to get cozy and settle in. What struck me most was the communal spirit—individual parties seated together, fostering a sense of connection. The menu, a testament to simplicity and quality, showcased expertly prepared ingredients speaking for themselves. No need for elaborate explanation or instruction; each dish spoke volumes with its flavors and textures. And the wine pairings? Impeccable. They elevated each course, complementing the flavors in delightful harmony. And let’s not forget the gin martini—a true masterpiece, setting the bar high for libations. While Forrest may lean towards a splurge, it’s a treat worth the occasional indulgence. The passion of Forrest and Nicole for their craft is palpable, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience.

Edit: I was mistaken as the owner noted and updated my single 4/5 segment to 5/5. We incorrectly assumed having our boxed dessert and bill paid that our food had not been saved and we didn’t want to cause a fuss in front of others or seem to be asking for a discount, which we weren’t.Atmosphere is cute and welcoming. Patrons are seated with others and served each course at the same time. Cucumber water was complimentary and went great with everything.First three courses were excellent, a bread course, crab croquettes, Brussels sprouts. The Beef Wellington was a little underwhelming. There was a crepe included inside the pastry which was very eggy. I ended up scraping it out best as I could and reassembling the Wellington. We were a little bummed that we asked for about half of our Wellington to be boxed and they forgot to save it. I was stuffed but would have gladly eaten the rest of it, I just wanted to savor it. I felt awkward addressing it at a large table of strangers. They were happy to box up one of our two desserts however. And the dessert was wonderful. The wine pairings were also quite nice.Other than the leftovers the service was wonderful. Not knocking the Wellington too hard for what may just be my preference.
