Ok coffee, nice people, way too much political garbage in the form of pro-Palestinian/ Hamas.
Higher grounds coffee is some of the best I have ever tried. The Apex Series is superb. My always choice. The flavor of each of these coffees is full bodied, unique, distinctive to the origin and completely delicious. I appreciate that these are sustainable products, crafted with care and Higher Grounds chooses coffees to support their communities. The Gold series Apex brand are a little more expensive, but worth every penny. Now that we are drinking better coffee, there is no going back. Thanks Higher Grounds.
Latte was too acidic for my liking. I could not finish it.
Pour over was pretty good, though a little weak. Not as much seating as you might expect. One bigger table and then window bar seating. Interior also felt a bit cluttered. Staff were kind and helpful. I appreciated being offered multiple brewing options when asking for a pour over (V60 or Chemex)! That’s fairly rare! Location is cool.
Hard to find a coffee in TC on a Sunday, especially a Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, this place was open until 3. The coffee seemed well roasted and it’s cool they roast their own. They have a lots of options, mainly from the Americas. They also make their own syrups, which is a huge plus. Unfortunately, their lattes are way out of ratio and taste like hot milk and if you get one with a syrup, it is way too sweet and just taste like syrup.
I asked how many grams of espresso are in the double shot since standard is like 15 to 18. She said 36, which threw me for a loop that would be impossible to get 36g into a porterfilter basket. It turns out it’s 18 g, which is perfect. Unfortunately, they only let it run till 36 g out, which means you’re only getting barely over 1 ounce of espresso your 12 ounce drink. That ratio is just way off. My guess is that they put more syrup in it than espresso, leading to it tasting like pure syrup and no coffee flavor whatsoever.
Very friendly barista, however. I like the cool products they had from Palestine, very unique and I’ve never seen that anywhere else. They also have the only tea grown in Michigan, which is really cool. I think if they just got the ratios right on their coffee drinks, it would be much much better.
Needed a place to kill an hour with a pastry and a cup of coffee. Mundo’s was too far away so I thought I’d try Higher Ground. Really disappointed. Atmosphere was dingy. Lots of political stuff all over. Coffee was meh. Cookie was good! One long table and then a counter with uncomfortable seats. Would not go back. I wanted a quiet politics free place to enjoy some good coffee. Didn’t find it here.
Have always loved this one! Always great service and delicious coffee. As we no longer live in TC, we do have their espresso subscription and whenever we run out and have to get something else, we count down the days until our next order comes.
Sydney was AMAZING and exemplary of why I love coming to coffee shops. Thank you for your hospitality!!
Great coffee and friendly staff
Great coffee and great service. Very hard to beat that!

Great coffee shop! Highly recommend 💚💯💯
Coffee was good, but very unfriendly, and pretentiousness staff, and I don’t want politics shoved down my throat when I’m looking for morning caffeine. I’ll do to the other coffee shop on the grounds next time I’m there.
Amazing coffee and we very much appreciated the message about Gaza. You are on the right side of history as time will show

I’m not a bit coffee drinker but my husband enjoyed his vanilla latte. My kid and I ordered the hot chocolate it was delicious, better than what most coffee shops offer. The staff was very kind and helpful, they welcomed us and our kids in with big smiles. We picked up some authentic Palestinian olive oil and Zafar by Canaan which was a pleasant surprise.
Kid-friendliness: They had some colored pencils and paper available which kept our children entertained while we enjoyed our drinks.
