Always a wonderful meal at Mode's. It was Men's Night downtown and the place was busy. We were seated after a short wait. Our server was fantastic and attentive. We split the duck, which was fabulous! The cherry cheesecake for dessert was also exceptional. A wonderful place for adult company!

We love the service here, the women who run this place are top notch, they always make you feel welcome! The prime rib is my go to with the wedge salad (the blue cheese dressing is the best!)

Solid service, solid quality, but way overpriced. I had a 12 oz prime rib which would have been $45 but I did the dinner special with shrimp so it was $65, for $20 I received 6 shrimp.

The prime rib was cooked properly, it was rare, just like I asked, but it had very little seasoning.

So the food was okay, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was not that great - the place looked very run down, dilapidated. Old carpet, dingy corners and poor lighting.

We arrived close to closing but were greeted by a friendly server and seated quickly.
I had Kendall Jackson Chardonnay; my bestie had iced tea. She ordered the walleye, I the 12 oz NY strip.
Great meals, both. Good homemade blue cheese dressing.
I recommend.

Came here like 5 years ago and had the best steak I've ever had. Sought out this weekend and it did not disappoint. Cooked perfect, outstanding steak.

In town for work and came in here for a solid dinner and it didnt disapoint.
Very good food, great atmosphere and better service.
Old school in the best sense of the words.

Our first visit to Modes Bum Steer was very dissopointing. Kudos to the old school dinner bar feel and the nostalgic decor however there is little else our party of four could praise other than the homemade blue cheese dressing. The tables are to small making the seating a bit awkward and the service was subpar. The wedge salad was lettuce, 3 cherry tomatoes and dressing. NY strip and fillet steaks were ordered at the table and both tasted full of tenderisor while lacking juiceness, flavor, and seasoning. Sadly, we left feeling puzzled at the 4.3 rating and that maybe they are living on their laurels.
Agreeing that we just had an overpriced Poderosa steak house flashback, Bum Steer is a good discription of this steak house.

Seeing Jim’s picture of Kathy and “subpar service” comment really made me react. She is one of the top servers at Mode’s and is admired by patrons. Every time I dine I get great service and watch her interact with other regulars who clearly love her. Don’t let Jim’s comments deter you from enjoying a really great meal with top notch service.

Depending on the wait-staff, service can be wonderful, or just okay. Best vodka martini in town!

Down to earth Steakhouse. Very old school. You either love or hate the décor and vibe inside the restaurant. Straight out of the 70s. I for one, enjoy it.
