There is a nice variety of ciders here at Taproot — some dry and others on the semi-sweet side. We tried the beet salad with grilled chicken breast, and also the hummus platter, both made for a delicious, light and healthy lunch. Our server was pleasant, and everything was better than what we expected to find at a cider house. I would definitely recommend this place to friends.

Had a good time here. I got a burger and my wife got the pot pie. Burger was really good, ate it in like 2 minutes. The pot pie was good also but be warned it is really hot so it takes a minute to cool down. I also tried the the smackintosh cider, it was really smooth and easy to drink. Really cool place.

Tucked away like a little pocket of sunshine, this restaurant instantly won me over with its cozy, plant-filled charm. The atmosphere is warm and inviting—soft lighting, natural textures, and greenery everywhere make it feel like you’ve stepped into a friend’s living room rather than a dining spot.
Now, let’s talk food. The chicken shawarma here is, without question, the best SANDWICH I’ve ever had. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and has the best sauce on it—it’s a revelation in every bite. Next, their hummus and handmade pita combo deserves equal applause. Creamy, nutty, and impossibly smooth, it’s the kind of dish you think about long after you leave.
What makes the meal even better is knowing the restaurant’s commitment to quality: everything is GMO-free, organic, and locally sourced, with happy, free-range livestock. It’s food made with conscience—and you can taste the difference.
Their beverage menu holds its own, too. The cider selection is huge, featuring a thoughtful range of flavors and styles. The menu itself is a delight—detailed, educational, and incredibly helpful, with notes on every dish, cocktail, and cider so you know exactly what you’re ordering.
All in all, it’s the kind of place you want to return to again and again—for the food, the people, and that easy, glowing atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Well, better than home really.. you don't have to cook here!

I love ciders and local foods. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the restaurant staff was very friendly. I ordered the Yogi Bowl and a cider definitely coming back again! It’s also very close to the Park Place Hotel.

Pretty good overall. The shrimp curry was good. Not great. I didn't expect it to be quite so expensive being the special and it wasn't quite even enough to fill me up, and I don't eat a lot.

One of the best restaurants I have been to in a long time. Service was top notch and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was beautifully dressed in greens and holiday decor (we went in Dec). Food was so divine! Flavors were next level and all created right there in house. We will be back every time we go to Traverse City!
We enjoyed the Shepherds Pie, Yogi Bowl with Chicken and the hot dog kids meals with tater tots.

I recently took clients here for lunch. It has a warm atmosphere, it was quiet for conversations, there was a variety of menu items to choose from and the service was prompt. I will definitely go back.

We came as a walk-in on a sunday evening and had to wait about 10 minutes for an inside table. We waited at the bar and decided to get a cider flight. They have a large selection of rotating draft ciders and we got to try 4 different ones. All of them were really delicious, the el chavo cider that was flavored with habanero peppers was my favorite one. They each had unique flavor profiles and they seem to have a wide range of ciders for different preferences. After we were seated, we ordered our dinner. I got the Taproot grilled cheese for my main, as I love a fruity grilled cheese. The bacon was crispy, and the house french bread has a good bite but still is soft to melt with the other ingredients. The apricot jam and apples were a nice contrast to what I believe was gouda cheese. The house made chips that came with it had such a good crunch to them. My partner got the Caesar salad and as lovers of Caesar dressing, this one passes the test. It was a large salad and the dressing was plentiful. (didn't get a picture) The service was pretty good and our waitress was able to help us navigate the allergens we had at the table. Overall Taproot was a good experience and when i am in Traverse city again, I would come back!

This place is phenomenal. Super casual with great and high quality food. Paired perfectly with an amazing cider list, can go wrong with any of them.

The birria tacos were amazing and while I didn’t care for the vanilla cider, I would definitely come back to try something else. Service was great and very accommodating to gluten free and dairy free needs
Solid burger!
