Although I was at their door at 3 pm on Sunday, I wasn't able to get any of those delicious tacos. There was a sign on the door stating they were closed. This is contrary to what their posted signage states. Maybe I'll give them another shot.

To be honest i expected very american style tacos since they are in Troy. But I was immediately surprised that they do have Mexican flavors. The pastor taco and the soy chorizo are really good and the taste is very similar to what you find in mexico. Is a really nice place and they are really fast. The sauce is not spicy but is tasty, I recomend the red one. The food portions are really well served. I do recomend the taco meal. They also got the Mexican sodas, a good glass of sangria and tacos is the best combination. Great place to eat tacos in Troy.

Great food, which you get a lot of and the prices are decent. The woman working the cash register was friendly and she knew the menu, which we appreciated. I ordered the tacos plate with steak (carne asada) and everything had bursts of flavor. It came with three street tacos (the small ones like you get at Imperial in Ferndale), some rice and some refried beans. The meat on the tacos had great beef flavor and the meat was seasoned well. The freshly chopped onions and cilantro on top was a nice touch. I squeezed some juice onto each taco from three lime slices, which added a great level of acid to the already tasty tacos. The rice was surprisingly good-I don't usually get excited about rice. The refried beans were actually delicious as well. Usually refried beans are bland, but these were good and they had some shredded cheese on top. All of the food was authentic, fresh and flavorful. My wife ordered large nachos with no queso sauce, which is probably the way to go. The nachos were huge and they were covered in melted cheese. I think the queso sauce would have caused a cheesy overload. The nachos were incredibly good and there was a good amount of pico de gallo on top of the melted cheese. Underneath the cheese we found a large amount of chicken and the perfect amount of refried beans. Honestly, we could have split the nachos because the plate of nachos was that big. The guacamole served with the nachos was delicious as well. They also had a salsa bar, which had some great options for salsa. The spicy salsa had some great heat and you could still taste the tomatoes and onions. The salsa verde was great too. The restaurant and bathroom were clean and there were plenty of booths and tables for seating. They had some cool decor too. I read some writing on the wall: "Jalapenos were the first peppers in space." After you order, they give you a number, which you put on a display at your table and then they bring your food to you. It was an all-around great experience. We will be back for sure.

As a raised Southern Cali dude, there was nothing better than your local Taco Shop and Chapos bring that to Troy. Mexican town is usually the place I go for my Carne Asada fix but Chapos is the most authentic replica of the meat anywhere outside of San Diego. The Cali Burrito is thick, delicious and filling. The rolled tacos are a perfect snack for anyone. Trust me order anything and then fix your own salsa cups and eat a few carrots. You will not be disappointed.

Great little cafeteria style Mexican eatery Not much on looks but the food was real good surprisingly! Very close to authentic Mexican food! Great for lunch, a quick bite, with carry out with delivery through Postmates, DoorDash, Uber eats, and GRUBHUB! They're open until 8-9pm on some days! And not expensive either, worth the money! check them out!

I Forgot I came here once when they first opened, I don't member if I liked it or not. I'm back to see if I liked it or not. What a great day to come, it's taco Tuesday. It's two dollars tacos today. We got chips and guacamole, the large one. They have a salsa bar as well. We ordered a chicken bowl and three à la carte tacos. I got the impossible meat, the chicken or pollo asada and a fish, without the breading. The first fish taco came out running. The runner that brought it out took it back and replaced it. The chicken marinade isn't bad, the fish tacos also, the not breaded version. My husband said his chicken bowl wasn't fine. The hot salsa is good, mild tomatillo is okay. They were low on the mild salsa. The guacamole is decent. The pickled carrots aren't bad either. They have Tapatio hot sauce in bottles at the tables. The manager or someone stopped by and asked if everything was okay, we said we were fine. The most annoying thing I found were the tissue thin napkins, so not absorbent. I must have used 20-30 for my tacos alone. They remind me of the tissues at a Spanish tapas in Spain or some of the restaurants in Seoul. Staff at the counter, runner and the manager all seem nice and friendly. Food overall was okay, not out of this world good or even really good. It's fast, thank goodness it was taco Tuesday. Not sure it was still worth the $28.61 out the door. The burrito bowl was $10.

I really enjoyed my first trip to Chapos. Tacos are amazing, every order comes with chips and the salsa options were fantastic. Very clean and fun restaurant- I'll definitely be back to Chapos again soon!

Tacos are good. Carne Asada was my favorite - and I really like their rice! We ordered takeout, so I cannot comment on anything with the dining in experience.

AMAZING! I'm so happy they have a vegan menu! I've been waiting for authentic vegan mexican food in the area for a while and Chapo's Tacos did not disappoint. Everything was yummy. The soy-rizo tacos had an Al Pastor flavor. The whole menu looks so good, can't wait to try everything! Really good salsas too. If you guys had a fire roasted salsa I'd be here every day (lunch and dinner.) Thank you for being awesome and offering delicious vegan options! Gotta mention the girl at the register was also very accommodating and sweet.

I had a carne asada burrito and it was delicious. Beans and rice were on point, and the steak was bursting with flavor. The burrito was also loaded with cheese...the kind of cheese we were used to taquerias back in California using. Just really good. My wife had a burrito with no protein, just beans, and she confirmed that it's really tasty. We'd love to see a veggie burrito like this on the menu for a dollar or two less than the regular, protein filled ones. Just double the beans and voila! All in all, very good taqueria and much closer to us than Pontiac, so we'll be coming back.

Not a fan of the carne asada tacos. So salty it was barely edible. Not understanding why the meat was in a brown gravy. If I had to guess the meat has been precooked and is sitting in a pan. My order did come out almost immediately after I ordered. It would be so much better and easier to cook the steak to order, instead of this gray meat that was cooked who knows how long ago and sitting around in a pan. Shredded cheese on regrows beans never melted so that tells you the beans were not hot. The rice was boring. I threw most of it away. The place was deserted on a Friday at lunchtime. I predict it won't make it with the lack of quality and attention to detail. And the ridiculously salty carne asada. Do better!

Salsa was not fresh and was very salty. Burrito was probably the worse I have ever eaten. Terrible flavor and no omg factor. My wife didn’t even finish her two tacos. If you are going to claim to be authentic Mexican then start making fresh ingredients and lay off the gordon food processed food. Go take a visit to Tijuana and tell me this is authentic. You can do better.

Food was greasy and bland, we were the only ones in there and it still took 15 min for our food. The salsa bar was dirty and somehow I still feel like we were rushed out the door. Sorry for the bad review but not impressed.
