The absolute best! I've been eating here since my dad would take me on weekends as a little kid. One of my favorites for sure. I'm very thankful for being able to enjoy hippo dogs for the last 20+ years.

I'm only giving this 3 stars because I've heard the hot dogs are amazing and I plan on going back to try them. As for the beef sandwich.... absolutely terrible. Probably one of the worst things I've tried in my life. The bread was so soggy like it was soaked in water, and the smell of whatever was on it was so pungent that it made me throw everything away except for the actual beef that I ate by itself just to get something out of the money I paid. I wish I didn't have to write this review because I've heard nothing bad at all about the dogs from here, but it was really that bad.

I love this place. The best Cancun Sausage ever. They were out this time so I substituted for the Italian sausage. My family and I frequent this place alot in the past but moved away. I miss going but when I'm in the area, I try to grab a couple dogs. Go try them out!

It's pretty much a classic street hot dog stand in building form. One of the few places you can get a tasty, filling lunch for $10 and change. The coneys are ok, but if you're coming here, you really should get the Chicago dog. One of the only good things to come out of Chicago besides Sears.

After more than a year of 3-4 times a week. I was in a real hurry today and ordered less than my usual, That made it under $5. I didn't have cash. So they wouldn't serve me. A regular. So, don't mistake family owned for community minded.

You have to try the hippo dog ,correction must try . it's got a lil kick but so worth it and I'm not a spicy pepper guy . But I'll eat the sport pepper , so delicious

They have carry out only, combined with minimal store hours is mostly why they got 3 stars. I got a combo sandwich it was very good, they Italian beef is more moist than Arby's. Another reason for three stars is the menu said sandwich came with Italian Gravy (not sure if I was supposed to know that meant au jus) so my bun was soggy ?. But over all was good. I will def try with maranara next time tho.
