Great addition to Somerset Mall! The coffee and bagels are so good, and the environment is unbeatable. Looking forward to many more visits.

Have ordered from here 4 times and each time is a huge letdown. I work at the mall and my options are limited. Mad inconsistent and so pricy for what you’re getting. Tiniest bagels on the planet and they’re a crazy consistency. They just raised their prices again too. They charge you 20 bucks for a bagel and lox which you can get anywhere for 13 dollars. In addition to this, the service is slow. One time I ordered soup, it had bread, the second time it didn’t. I order a bagel and it doesn’t come with the cream cheese. Another time it’s the wrong item entirely.

We really enjoyed the two coffees we ordered at Madcap Coffee in the Somerset Collection — they were excellent. However, we were a little disappointed with the rest of our experience.

We ordered a simple everything bagel with cream cheese and a hot chocolate for my five-year-old son. After waiting about 25 minutes, we still hadn’t received either item, so I asked to cancel the order. The staff said they would issue a refund, but it hasn’t been processed yet. I left my email and phone number with the clerk since the manager was on break.

Hoping this can be resolved soon, as we truly did enjoy the coffee.

Atmosphere is top-notch! But that’s about it. I think their employees are rude. I’ve been there a few times and the food is old tasting. I had the chicken salad tasted sour! The salads are old And wilted too bad they don’t make it from scratch. Then on top of that, you spend $30 for a sandwich pretzels and a drink and then it was so rude. They’re hovering over you to intimidate you to leave a tip. 😂 So dear mad, nice managers, train your people correctly! And then it literally took 10 minutes and it wasn’t even busy to get my food. There was no line and then the cashier was on his phone but thank you for the $10 bag.

I had very high expectations of this cafe being a grand opening in the only luxury mall in the entire state of Michigan. The bakery selection was not creative and or aesthetic. We ordered a bagel sandwich and matcha latte for dine in. I could not believe with the effort around creating such a visually beautiful restaurant the food was served in plastic airport packaging and a paper cup. The service was good and you can tell the employees are doing a great job with their resources at hand.

I think I was given a several day old bagel, at least that is what it tasted like. I have never had such a bad bagel. The coffee was nothing special. I will never be back.

I stopped by Mad Nice recently and ordered a pistachio coffee, which was great, but the service was a bit mixed. The customer ahead of me asked for a cup of water and received one without any issue. When I asked for the same, one of the employees (a red-haired staff member) gave me noticeable attitude, which caught me off guard since it was such a simple request.
Thankfully, another employee stepped in and helped me right away, he was polite, professional, and made the experience much better. I appreciated his kindness, but the inconsistent service definitely stood out. Overall, the drinks are solid, but the customer service depends on who you get.

Horrible service. Ordered 2 seasonal drinks and a bagel, only received one drink and gave it back and asked nicely for something different because it was not good and got back sass and attitude in return. Then proceeded to ask where the other drink was and was told we did not order it with eye rolling, which was not adding up because we spent 35 dollars and 1 drink and bagel did not equal that. Would not recommend!

If you’re anywhere near Somerset Mall in Troy, Michigan, you have to stop by Mad Nice. This place instantly became one of my new favorite spots for breakfast and coffee in the entire Metro Detroit area. I ordered the goat sandwich and a cortado, and every bite and sip felt like a chef-crafted experience.

The goat sandwich was unreal — rich goat cheese with incredible depth of flavor, perfectly seasoned, and served on what might be the best sourdough bagel I’ve ever had. The sourdough bagels at Mad Nice deserve their own spotlight. They’re warm, chewy, slightly tangy, perfectly toasted, and absolutely packed with that artisan bakery aroma you can smell the moment your plate hits the table. It’s the kind of bite that makes you stop and appreciate the craftsmanship.

The cortado was just as impressive — smooth, velvety, balanced, with zero bitterness. You can tell they take their coffee program seriously. It paired perfectly with the savory richness of the sandwich.

The atmosphere at the Troy Somerset location is modern, bright, and beautifully designed, making it a great place for brunch, a quick lunch break at the mall, or even a relaxed coffee stop. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu.

If you’re searching for best brunch in Troy, amazing coffee in Somerset Mall, artisan sourdough bagels Troy MI, or simply a place that delivers high-quality food with standout flavors, Mad Nice at Somerset is absolutely worth the trip. I’ll definitely be coming back again — this place is mad nice in every way.

This place is SO cute! I feel like I'm in the south of France or Italy with the little umbrellas outside, and the service is wonderful.

My kids have really missed Kevin at the Detroit location, and when we told them he was up here, we can't even step foot in the mall parking lot without them begging to go see 'Kevins at Somerset'.

10/10 everything, love to see Mad Nice here!

The bagels are very small, very chewy and hard with delicious toppings and spread. It certainly not worth $24 for a sandwich bagel. I was pretty pretty disappointed and I’m not in a rush to go back. I had a hot coffee with the choice of oat milk and that was delicious. It definitely has some kink to sort out.

Love this place! We enjoyed the smoked brisket sourdough bagel and breakfast sandwich along with handcrafted drinks - iced cold foam matcha and a macchiato. Fantastic service and relaxing atmosphere. Looking forward to trying the salads and pastries next time. Great spot to relax at the mall. Love that it’s locally owned.
