We’ve had dinner here many times over the years, but apparently, they’ve changed their policy on serving rice with the entrées. Rice no longer comes automatically with your entrée. If you want rice you have to order it separately and there is a separate charge for it. I was shocked … considering how inexpensive rice is and how every single Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been in has always included it with your entrée!!!! Buyer Beware!!

Hosted a dinner for a small group in this place after many years of not having been there. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding and the prices were moderate. The atmosphere is not exciting, very noisy and without enough space between tables. All in all a very good experience to be repeated soon.

First time visiting this restaurant. We enjoy trying new places that offer a happy hour food menu. The interior is beautifully decorated, our wait staff Tammy was excellent, and all the food we opted to try was very good. We definitely will be going back and maybe we'll bring some friends too.

I’ve been coming to Mon Jin Lau for over 10 years and usually love the food, but my recent visit was disappointing. The crab cakes came out completely charred (see photo), and when I mentioned it, the manager told me they couldn’t be remade because “that’s how they make them,” and spoke with a rude tone.
I even reached out to them afterward through one of their platforms and got no response. After years of loyalty, that was the final straw. I won’t be back.

🚨🚨🚨 I was sooooo traumatized and devastated to find out they recycle their dipping sauces. We witness our waitress take dipping sauce from the table to the left of us and give it to the table to the right of us. Knowing we had the same dipping on our table(so it was taken from someone else’s table and given to us). Before I had waited what she did, I had eaten from the spoon that came in the dipping sauces. When I asked her why she would do that, her response was “that’s what we do here”. I had advised her not to give our dipping sauces to anyone, bcuz I had put my mouth on the spoon and put it back inside the dipping sauce.(I’m not an unclean person, I just care about ofter people) Which im not convinced she even cared and still did it anything.🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮 That confirmed me not ever returning or recommending this place to anyone. I can’t even imagine what’s going on in their kitchen. They are a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Mon Jin Lau on Maple rd in Troy has the best Asian food in town. The Mongolian beef is quite spectacular and to wash it down with an ice cold Sapporo makes for a great meal. The atmosphere is quite nice. I thought it was a great place to take my wife for date night. You should definitely give this place a try if you haven’t already!’
Food here is not authentic food. Meat is man-made or plant protein, not real one. We ordered crispy duck and it didn't taste like duck at all; the inside is smashed white meat m, not duck!!!

Last night I had a birthday dinner and it was my first time coming there. I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant but the service that you guys provided me and my guest was horrible!!! The waiter barely came back my egg rolls had no shrimp. Half of our plates came late to the table, so some of us were eating and others weren’t. On top of that one out of guest crab cakes were so burnt you could see and taste it. After asking for another one the manager(older gentleman) had the nerve to come out and say, “you can have something else but we’re not making another one because that was cooked to perfection and there not burnt with a direct attitude” when everybody looking clear as day and see those damn crab cakes were burnt on the top of that, when asked why not? you had the nerve to repeat what you said. Let me tell you something I worked in fine dine restaurants for many years I’m pretty sure I know that’s how crab cakes are suppose to come out and taste, and I know how service should be given and that’s not how you give service and that’s not how you talk to people . How dare you tell somebody something like that knowing you’re in the wrong, on top of that when I asked for the head chef instead I was told, unless you know how speak Chinese that’s not possible. So make that make sense how are you and everybody else communicating with him if there’s a language barrier. SMH you just didn’t want to make another one, gave poor service, gave everyone a hard time and pissed us all off, especially for me because it was my birthday. Everyone sushi platters weren’t event platted well. Very sloppy work. Seating was jammed tight in a corner, we barely had any leg room. Also my sushi was pretty decent but I should’ve had my own plate, instead I’m sharing a plate with somebody but everybody else had there own individual plates!!!! Worst experience ever I’m not coming back thanks for ruining my birthday experience.

I used to go there 3-5 times a week after work 28 years ago. It was a great place to get food, drinks and meet people. It was like Cheers. I recently went back for a Regular's Reunion and the quality is the same, the prices were by today's standard cheaper and white there have been changes, it still felt very familiar. I highly recommend.
