The Maiko special offers a little bit of everything for you to try. Definitely enough to share for two people for a responsible dessert.A bit cold there in the winter and you'll only feel colder in the winter months while you eat ice cream. Was pretty quiet there when we went and the staff seemed to be prepping a bunch of items in the back, but was still able to take care of us.If you like matcha it's worth a stop to try out, as the matcha ice cream itself was very tasty on its own without any of the toppings or goodies.

They deliver what they promise, a good and authentic Japanese matcha. I ordered the most sophisticated dish and added edible gold leaf. I loved it from the visual aspect, very beautiful. The taiyakis are also very delicious, they are made on the spot. The place is not very nice, the furniture is old and the walls are unpainted.

The only complaint I have is they are charging credit card fee of 5%, which is not normal in any restaurant. So use cash.

The cashier told us there is no matcha so we had to order Ube and Vanilla which is way too sweet to our liking. 5 minutes after we got our ice cream, we saw they handling out matcha ice cream to people. She did not mention to us the matcha was coming in a few minutes so we could wait. very disappointed ! The Ube and vanilla combo is too sweet we couldn't finish half.

Matcha latte with the ube-taro ice cream was amazing. They do not serve any coffee. Amazing options here if you love matcha.

I had to change my review from 5 star to 1 star after 2 years. I have been there many times but I don’t think I will be making the drive down there again. Their customer service is just ridiculous. I went there yesterday and they took 10 minutes to take my order. They have two people working but nobody taking orders. You can hear two staff members chatting in the back. You have to try to get their attention to notify them that you want to place an order. The girl that finally came out to take my order was rude and unwelcoming. The drink was bitter tasting and nasty and the ice cream fell in to the drink. For the price, they should be making the drinks better. I was disappointed with the whole experience and probably won’t be back.

I know this is a chain, but here in the greater DET area, we don't get many of the typical Asian amenities (it's changing for sure!). Tried the matcha float and the matcha latte, and they were both delicious fares. With its claw machines and chalk wall, it's a nicely interactive space. Service was good and it didn't take too long to get our orders. Solid establishment!

Yummy yummy yummy! Ordered the Maiko Special and it did not disappoint! Love the atmosphere in the café with the greenery, upbeat music (it was a Filipino song at the time), and games to play while eating/drinking (my family and I played connect 4!).

I've been to a couple of Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko locations throughout the US and have found them to be pretty consistent in quality. Their ice cream is always delicious and this location is no different. On our last visit over the weekend, we got: Cup, Matcha and Thai Tea ($5.50) - We originally wanted the Ube-Taro and Thai Tea swirl, but their Ube-Taro dispenser wasn't working. Instead, we got the Thai Tea with Matcha on top. The Matcha flavor is fantastic, very dense grassy, slightly bitter matcha flavor with a nice sweetness. The Thai Tea, which is their current seasonal flavor, has a rich roasted, smoky flavor almost reminiscent of wok hei. The ice cream in general is rich and decadent, with a thickness and density more akin to a good frozen custard than the typical light and airy soft serve. We came here right when they were receiving an delivery of dairy products. Let's just say, they use a lot of milk and surprisingly cream cheese. No wonder why the ice cream is so rich! Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko is pretty far away from us, but we usually drop in whenever we are up in Troy. I definitely recommend it, at least for the ice cream!

The BEST.Funny story to share. My husband and I lived in California for a number of years and we thought the only Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko was in Chinatown in San Francisco. We would make trips to the city just to get more of the ridiculously delicious matcha soft serve - it is that addictive. Flash forward, we moved to Detroit and I was flabbergasted to find out it's a Japanese chain and there was a location near us! I like green tea, but the matcha soft serve is so good it's hard to properly explain. Just try it. Try it. One heads up though, don't eat it right before bed, it's definitely got a kick of caffeine

Wow I am impressed. The drinks are not too sweet but very thick and deep in flavours. This is better than some city Toronto matcha shops.Amazing.You get 5% off if you pay in cash
