I came to Umai CafĂ© in Troy for my birthday because I really wanted to try their soufflĂ© pancakes â and they did not disappoint! They were light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. We also tried the sando, which was just as good â flavorful and satisfying.
The cafĂ© itself has such a cozy, welcoming vibe, and the staff were very kind. The only small hiccup was that the posted hours said they open at 11:30, but they didnât open until 12:00, so keep that in mind if youâre planning an early visit.
Overall, it was a wonderful birthday treat, and Iâll definitely be back to try more from their menu!

First time here and loved it . We almost tried everything! I will recommend đ 100%. Here are pictures of everything we ate but my daughter got her food first it was a Dragon roll sushi and she devoured it too quick!! Pictures do their justice food was fresh , desserts were light , not too sweet just perfectly balanced. Staff was great and very helpful.

This was such a fun place to try! My mom and i drove from Wyandotte and found that it was well worth the trip. Itâs a little expensive, but for what youâre getting i think itâs well worth it and fairly priced! I got soufflĂ© pancakes and my mom got waffles, both of which were delicious, and the presentation of our food was so pretty! The staff was also very pleasant, Iâd happily make the trip again :)

Perfect little cafe restaurant with fantastic food! The onigiri I had was so delicious and was perfect with the accompanied miso soup and salad. I will definitely be coming back !

Came here and we ordered:
- Chicken katsu with egg over rice
- Matcha latte
- Umai souffle pancake
The chicken katsu barely had any egg on top, it was barely visible on the chicken. The chicken was soggy, the rice was soggy and I definitely think anyone can make this better at home!
They warned us the Umai souffle pancake would take 30 minutes. For 3 small pancakes, I think 30 minutes is too long, especially for the type of service they offer (food brought out on trays, you take care of the trays, plates and trash yourself). The ice cream that came with the Umai souffle pancake was freezer burnt, I think you can get better matcha ice cream from your local grocery store.
Overall, I will not be returning. $45 for mediocre food that I think most people can make themselves!
Do not order the chicken katsu and only order the souffle pancakes if you have time to wait awhile! I did see other people get sushi, which looked alright.
A small and cozy cafe with an amazing selection of sushi, drinks and amazing desert waffles.
Staff is also friendly.
Good food, great service. Busy but not overcrowded.
I visited this cafe a few months ago with a friend and really loved the foodâit was fresh, delicious, and the atmosphere was nice too. Iâve been wanting to go back ever since.
Unfortunately, their hours are incredibly limitedâtheyâre only open for about 3 hours a day. Iâve tried multiple times to go again, but theyâre always closed. Itâs frustrating when a place has great food but is nearly impossible to visit. Hoping they consider extending their hours in the future.
