5 Best Wineries near Washington

Westview Orchards & Winery Wineries • $$
65075 Van Dyke Ave, Washington

“This review is for the apple cider only. Their donuts and pastries also rate 5 stars! What makes the apple cider so special? The taste is pure apple because it's not pasteurized or treated with chemicals. I can't prove it, but I think most cider mills use all the apples including those off the ground. These mills rely on pasteurizing to kill off any bad stuff unfortunately it also affects the taste. Westview picks the apples off the tree and will tell you what variety is currently being used.“

“Unwined has GREAT wine and even BETTER staff! The rotating menu of wines makes it a very easy spot to revisit. They have something for all tastes, including food! Small bites and snacks are perfect to pair with their wines. The highlight of Unwined is the events they host! The themed trivia nights they host are a blast and you can tell they put thought and time into making these events fantastic. We are frequent flyers and will continue to be!“

“The Best urban winery I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Owners Joe and Nancy go the extra mile to make you feel like family, and educate you about all of their wonderful wines. I plan on visiting them often and can’t wait to try the wine slushees I’ve heard so much about....“

Wine Flight with Charuterie Board
2013 Syrah

“In town for a long weekend and met some friends for an early evening, pre-dinner activity. We really enjoyed this Michigan-only wine tasting room experience! The establishment creates a nice hybrid space giving the ambiance of a retail store and a tasting experience. We were the only party in attendance for most of the time. Jen, the sole employee at the time, was helpful, attentive and personable. (Note: we arrived around 4 on a Thursday, so we didn't expect it to be busy.) There was a really broad range of available wines of many different varieties. Being from another state, I was impressed to find that Michigan had so many styles to offer, even Cabs and Pinot Noir most often associated with lower latitudes. We went with the flight options giving us 3, 3oz pours for the price of a nice, full glass of wine. At the time, our table really enjoyed the oaked Chardonnay and a Malbec. We took advantage of the $5 coupon that comes with the flight by purchasing a few bottles when we left. Snack options were available. We enjoyed a baguette with some goat cream cheese. Another item was our first choice, but they were out. We also enjoyed the cashews. If you are looking for a full meal, lunch or dinner, you can order in from DoorDash -- the sky is the limit!Overall, enjoyable experience to share with friends and loved one! Overall rating - 3.75. (Note: it's hard for me to go 4 or higher just because this is missing the winery "feel." That has nothing to do with this place, but more my preference.)“

“Food is always a solid choice no matter what you order. And of course the flights of hard cider are a must! That way you can try a variety of flavors. Donuts and cider next door are always good to take home. It does get busy on weekends so get there early!“
