I hadn’t been to Sharaku in years, but after hearing so many great things recently, I decided it was time to go back — and I was honestly blown away.
The quality of the fish was exceptional. The sashimi was some of the best I’ve had in Michigan — incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and each bite tasted better than the last. You can really tell they take pride in the quality of their ingredients and the care that goes into every plate.
The staff was beyond friendly and made the whole experience feel welcoming and relaxed. Between the service, the presentation, and the outstanding fish, it was an amazing meal from start to finish.
I will absolutely be returning soon. If you’re looking for truly high-quality sushi in Michigan, Sharaku is a must.

My favorite Japanese restaurant, hands down. The unadon, the chirashi, and the mabodon are my all time faves. And the sushi. I have yet to find a place that comes close.

The Sushi is very nice and, if possible, the tempura is even better!

Sharaku represents the best Japanese food Michigan has to offer. The sushi was delicious, as was the agedashi tofu. I think anyone who loves Japanese food and is wondering where they can get some really great food in Michigan should go here!

Clearly this place has a good reputation. We showed up for our 5:30 reservation when the place opened and we weren’t the first ones at the door.

Truly the best food and the best service you will ever have. Hands down. No sushi place will EVER top this one.
I was in the retail grocery business for close to 40 years. In my stores, I had a large authentic Japanese department. In my opinion, Sharaku ranks among the world‘s finest sushi, restaurants. It is absolutely without peer in Michigan. Do yourself a favor and enjoy an evening here. There is none better anywhere.

I honestly think this place offers one of the best sushi experiences in the U.S. when it comes to quality for the price. The sushi is incredibly authentic, with a level of quality that’s hard to find anywhere nearby (or even within a 4-5 hr drive). Our favorite omakase, in particular, is an absolute steal 💎. We are sure you would be paying 2-3× more if this were in a larger city. We’re just so grateful to have a place like this❤️
It’s about a 30–40 minute drive from Ann Arbor, but 100% worth it. Ever since discovering this spot, we’ve stopped going to other sushi places around us 😊
Amazing food and service, and our favorite Korean chef is a huge reason we keep coming back again and again 😆

This was probably the best sushi I've had outside of Japan. My wife (from Japan) enjoyed the food and the service reminded her of home.

If you miss Japan and sushi, this is the place to be. They have uni and ankimo and it is delicious. Get the omakase.

I have passed by here to many times. And for once i entered. The atmosphere was humble and authentic and the food. Oh wow. Ive never had better and finer food. I felt warm on the inside and the food was not just food, it was art. It was clean, tasted pure and fresh. The sushi chefs were humble and kind. They treated me happieness. But the star of the show , was Yuki. Yuki was so kind and so very hard working. Her eyes lit up with happieness and honest intent for kindness and raiated a sense of epicness that screamed perfessionalism and hard work. If anyone deserves a raise it was her. She made me smile and i wanted to hug her. But the managers, were so knowledgable, so cool and just outgoing. How could you ask for a finer place. A gem hidden, a place where you eat and fill youself and you feel content, not full, but as though you went to japa, the food qulaity is so good so clean and hoenest, i will be reccomending friends here forever. Its been here for 27 years and i want another 100.

Went here for a birthday dinner and was a little surprised at how everything came out. The service was slower but very cordial. My main complaint was how chewy/rubbery the salmon nigiri was. Not sure if this was a tail cut of fish but it was very unpleasant. The rest of the food was amazing but the salmon threw off my appetite for the rest of the meal, kind of frustrating since this was a highly recommended place and not cheap.

A wonderful experience. Great, friendly staff. Food prepared to perfection. Service at lunchtime on a snowy day was impeccable. I wish they had a sister restaurant on the East Side of Detroit.
