I'm a little late it writing this review but it needs to written. The service at this restaurant was one of the best experiences I have yet had.Everything on the menu looked so good that I couldn't decide what to order. The chef came out and offered to make a seven course dinner with his choice of different menu options and wine pairings so that I could try as much food as possible. It was a night to remember, thank you!

Superb golf, on the challenging to hard side, very under rated. Some F&B to rival any club anywhere

Definitely one of the best golf experiences you can have in Northern Michigan. Course is immaculate and tough.

WARNING...this is now a fully private club. The restaurant is no longer available to the general public.

Course is always in fantastic shape and views are spectacular

I love this course. The layout is great with extremely challenging greens and incredible views of the bay. Their cabins are top notch. Even though they are moving full private for everything I have been glad to experience the course over the last few years.

9/2020 - went for lunch on an early fall afternoon during the pandemic & ate outside. Good social distancing practices & great service. We both had Chef Eric's morel bisque, again (see a review from last year below), which continues to be awesome. Also had the heirloom tomato capresé salad - it too was fantastic! And believe it or not, the cup of coffee I had was memorable (very smooth & silky, & I prefer dark roast). The view overlooking the course & East Grand Traverse Bay was fantastic. Though expensive ($69 for 2 without any alcohol), for a special treat, it's worth it, which is why I changed my prior rating from last year from 4 to 5 stars.7/2019 - Went for lunch on a Saturday with a large group. Was promptly seated & generally had good service. Great view. Everyone loved their entreés, especially Chef Eric's signature morel bisque. Water glasses were always filled. The only glitch was that our server was the only one bringing out our meals, so 5 trips ...

The food was phenomenal as was the service. The Chef visited our table and offered our 15 month old grapes, which are her favorite. We were very happy we chose to come here instead of eat at the resort we stayed at. We had crab cakes to start, filet mignon and scallops and a Caesar salad with steak. All of it was excellent, absolutely no complaints.

We were able to play Lochenheath earlier this week through the courtesy of a member there. It was a great experience all around. The course itself is interesting and challenging without being brutal. Greens were top notch. The scenery is gorgeous as pretty much every hole offers a view of Grand Traverse Bay. The only thing that wasn't perfect was that we could have used more sand in the traps (which is ironic, as the entire surrounding are is essentially a giant sand dune!). All in all though a great golf course and a great golf experience! We had lunch after our round and the food and ambiance were both great. Among the better golf course meals I have had. Finally, a big shout out to the PEOPLE there! We were welcomed with both courtesy and enthusiasm, the wait staff was excellent and even joined in out group's banter seamlessly. All of us agreed that is was a great experience and one of the highlights of our trip.

All good things must come to an end... the idiom rings true yet again. I’m disappointed to hear that LochenHeath will no longer allow public play, as it became one of my favorite courses in the state since discovering it 3 years ago. Oh well, perhaps I can form some connections with members so I can experience this exceptional course yet again at least once this summer.

Very disappointed. The filet carpaccio was not as expected was more of a tartar then carpaccio. Also ordered the meatloaf and lasagna both of which were not tasty, the lasagna was more like meatloaf with noodles around it. Both items tasted very similar like it was exactly the same meat in both items. We were all sadly disappointed with the cost to taste ratio.
