Anyone looking to apply to work here, BE AWARE. Jeff Sprinkle, the manager, is very unprofessional.

My 16 year old cousin applied here a month ago. Her first job. She only worked two days, 4 hours each. The only “training” she got was 1) learning the measurements of blizzards and 2) learning to make vanilla/chocolate cones. She had an employee that was assigned to train her, and this employee had told her “I don’t even know how to train people”. Because of this, she (my cousin) was left standing around most of the time.

After 2 days of “training”, she was scheduled to go in for her third day. The manager, Jeff, informed her an hour before her shift that she didn’t need to come in. A couple days later, she was scheduled to go in for what would’ve been her 4th shift, and Jeff had informed her AGAIN an hour prior to not come in.

At this point, my cousin is frustrated because she wants to be trained and start working more. She got scheduled for Saturday, April 5th. My cousin voiced to my aunt (her mom) that she was considering quitting because she had a feeling that she was going to get called off again.

After going back and forth with my aunt,, she decided that she was going to quit. Now, since she is 16 and this is Dairy Queen, she could’ve just not showed up. But, she wanted to be professional, so she gave Jeff a well thought out text informing him that she would not be coming in and thanked him for the opportunity.

Within minutes of sending this text, Jeff called her. He then tells her that “this is a mutual decision because she wasn’t catching on anyways”.

If she wasn’t “catching on”, why were you going to have her come in tomorrow (the 5th)?? Why didn’t you let her go?
Why continue to string her along?

Also, how can someone “catch on” when they’ve worked somewhere for only 8 hours. Half of those hours wasn’t even labor. As I said earlier, the person who was designated to train her didn’t even know what to show her.

And she could’ve had two more days of training, but HE called her off???

How unprofessional of him to CALL her and essentially shame her work performance. She is 16. He is a grown man. Who talks to a kid like that, especially when she’s been nothing but sweet and has expressed that she not only wants to work more, but get trained soon.

Also, side note, the second day she was working, she was making cones, and Jeff had given her kudos and said, and I quote “you’re catching on!”. So is she catching on or not??

She also hasn’t gotten her paycheck. When she asked where it was, Jeff was confused, saying it should’ve been in the stack. Shortly after, he had told her it was because he never received her work permit. This is a lie. My aunt had came into the store with my cousin when she dropped it off and watched it happen. So they lost her work permit and they won’t own up to it.

They get paid every other Friday. Today, the 4th, was a pay day. Before getting off the phone with my cousin, Jeff had told her that paychecks will be at the store on Sunday. But TODAY is pay day. Make it make sense.

It’s unfortunate that my cousin had to have this kind of experience at her first job. And unfortunately there’s so many other jobs who treat young kids nowadays exactly like this. It’s disappointing.

Sorry for the dumb username, but I’d like to share what I experienced with my order. The person who took my order was nice, but I feel like whoever is managing this location is cutting corners majorly. If I’m wrong please explain what’s going on.

In the photos depicted, there is a huge difference between what the order is supposed to look like versus what I received. The first two photos depict what is expected versus what I received, and the following two is what it became after eating it for a while.

Generally, the misty freeze is supposed to be majority misty, with ice cream in the center. This was two pumps (not exaggerating) of flavoring, and the rest, ice cream. I’m not kidding when I say “and the rest, ice cream”. It was at best a little bit crunchy.

I don’t want to put any shade on the person who served me, because they seemed like they were just following what the manager is telling them, due to a recent experience (with another employee) my mom had fairly recently with her “Chocolate Covered Strawberry” blizzard, and her not being given anything for strawberries (my order was just plain incorrect. It was still good, though).

If there’s people just in training, I understand completely. I’m not trying to make accusations, I just haven’t had any good experiences lately.

Anyways, I’m not changing my stance on the fact that what I received was poor in quality, incorrect in the past, and feeling like corners have been cut as of recent. However, I will remain compassionate towards the employees.

For those who needed a review they can relate to, you’re not alone. If this is a couple isolated incidents, then so what? I’m still going to share my experience.

TL;DR: these images show how incorrectly made this Misty Freeze was. I’ve had poor experiences recently alongside my mom, who is kind of irrelevant in this review. I have compassion towards the employees, regardless of if corners are being cut by the manager or if they’re in training, but I’m inclined to believe the manager is cutting corners. Regardless of if the employees are in training.

Horrible customer service. Guy with the glasses behind the counter should not be working with people. No people skills at all guy is rude and needs to be put in his place. Unacceptable!!

My order was the royal brownie blizzard with no chocolate chunks, minimum fudge, and extra brownie pieces. The girl taking my order was amazing and it’s why I had to put a somewhat decent rating, other than that I wouldn’t go back. The girl who was making my blizzard didn’t even acknowledge any specification I made. I got 9 brownie pieces max, an over excessive amount of chocolate chunks, and no fudge. It’s like they decided to freestyle my order. I can’t even finish my ice cream because it actually tastes like rubbish. Another thing, is that while she was making my blizzard she just stopped to go get a cake in the back. Under normal circumstances that’s completely fine, but there were 2 other employees just standing watching her. They proceeded to look at me then look at their coworker in confusion cause I guess they were also stunned that she just stopped my order to assist someone behind me who just came in while I had already ordered. Very disappointed.

Both the ice cream and shake were delicious. When I showed the store employee a photo of the ice cream I wanted to try, she kindly agreed to help.
