We had the Gumbo and Beans and Rice. Both were excellent. The service is friendly and the food is tremendous.

Ambience and service were excellent.

However, I was very underwhelmed with the food. Perhaps it was unrealistic expectations, but I had been looking forward to coming to Bellwether since we moved from Chicago a little over a year ago. The best dish was the oysters, as they were great quality but obviously require little preparation. However, I found the main courses to be lacking creativity and uninspiring, as well as being over salted. Of the main courses, the best part was the grits with the trout dish. The fried mushrooms were over salted as well as the trout. We also ordered a pork dish, and I found the pork flavorless, although it was a nice cut. The dish was not elevated at all and resembled something you might get in a home style country restaurant.

Maybe we came on a bad night, but I’m not super inspired to come back. To be clear, Ken our server was great!

The atmosphere is very clean / modern / relaxed simultaneously. Went for a bday dinner and it was just the right vibe. The food was so so good, very thoughtful and seasonal. Even just the starter salad was top notch and on a more casual occasion I’d have made a dinner out of that alone, plus cocktails, which were also lovely.

Vegetarian options: The menu is ever-changing, but from what I’ve gleaned (and seen in person), there is always one vegan option at least. A few vegetarian friendly starters on the menu. If you’re pescatarian, you’re golden, they have hella seafood options. I am pescatarian but had the vegan eggplant stew and it was *perfect*.

Bellflower is one of our favorite restaurants in all of Michigan right now. The level of flavor is remarkable. The only disappointment is also the best part - the menu changes so if you have a favorite dish, you probably won’t get it again. But you’ll get another as good, so I guess it’s OK. lol. Also, their NA cocktail game is the best in the area, IMO. As a sober sister, it’s so nice to get to have a drink with my wife at dinner and not just feel like I spent $13 on juice (like a lot of restaurants).
I would love slightly more vegetarian options, there’s often only one dinner choice for my wife, and sometimes it’s amazing, and other times it falls a little flat.

Absolutely one of the top 3 dining spots in Ann Arbor and the surrounding area! The menu changes regularly, showcasing dishes inspired by the season’s freshest ingredients. The cocktails are fantastic, and the wine selection includes unique natural wines that you won’t find everywhere. Highly recommended for food lovers seeking a creative and memorable dining experience. No menu for kids, wouldn’t recommend for families but perfect for date nights.

My partner and I just went for our anniversary dinner. I can quite honestly say- I think that was the best meal I've ever had.

The menu that night happened to have a collard curry- I ordered it. I am from Virginia. That was the best preparation of collard greens I have ever had. It reminded me very much of what cooking is like where I am from- a lot of it is based on African cuisine, using New World ingredients. I was also reminded of the cooking of chef/writer Michael Twitty.

I cannot stress how good this dish was. I expected it to be good, but it was more than that. I will probably be thinking about this meal forever.

My partner also got duck stroganoff (pasta made by Dave (thanks Dave)). It was also quite good. Salmon pate, lovely. Bread pudding, served warm with whipped cream- delicious.

The food was prepared well and give it 5 stars. The wine pours were terrible. They measured the pour by lining the glass up to a wooden box. They need to invest in single serving wine carafes so we know we are getting the correct pour. Sadly and may sound crazy to some, but for that reason we would not go back.

Had the pleasure of sitting out back in the evening with a cool breeze with romantic lighting. Pictures shown are from two separate visits. Seafood chowder, Great lakes fish cakes served two different ways and Breaded perch. Portions were perfect. Amazed at the delicious dishes that are created with what's on hand and what's in season. Love that the menu is a surprise. What a fabulous gem In Ypsilanti Michigan!

This is the most sophisticated date or special occasion restaurant in Ypsilanti. I've had one or two dinners here that I didn't love, but last night, my whole party loved the meals, including dessert. The perch I had was perfection. My friends loved their vegetable curry, and we all enjoyed the bread pudding w whipped cream dessert. The menu changes often, if not daily. While hard-core foodies might notice errors on some things, like not detaching the oyster from the shell, it's still a place one can get oysters in Ypsi that taste good. The atmosphere is terrific. The service last night was perfect. Be prepared for a big bill, but sometimes it is worth it to have a fancy evening out.
