I buy 1 bag of locally roasted whole bean coffee every weekend from roasters in downtown Farmington, Plymouth, Flat Rock, Northville, or Dearborn. In 2025 it costs 13 - 22 dollars for a 12oz bag, depending on origin and the roasters location. This weekend I wanted to try something new and found Hyperion on google. I grabbed a bag of single origin beans from Costa Rica. This little bag of beans with tax and 15% tip cost 37.00 dollars! This is why they do not put a price tag on their bags of beans, 30.00 is almost double the price of the single origin Costa Rican beans I bought last weekend from a Downtown Farmington roaster who surely has more overhead maintaining their shop in the heart of downtown Farmington than this shop does in the outskirts of Ypsilanti. I really hope I am missing something about this place and/or these beans. If half of all the proceeds were given back to their community I might not of felt so gross walking out of this place, but coffee lovers should know they have better options in flat rock, Farmington and Dearborn.

Great coffee spot for working. All tables on one side of the shop have outlets and Wifi is strong. There's a gender neutral bathroom available to customers, and the latte art is always perfection. Love the unique offerings like the Cascara tea too. Great dairy free milk options and lots of free parking available in the back. Well lit with lots of windows. Wouldn't recommend for bigger groups though - most tables only seat 2.

It is truly a blessing that small Ypsilanti is the home of such a world-class coffee house and coffee roaster. Hyperion pushes the envelope of how good coffee can be. I lived in Portland and Seattle in the early 90s when Starbucks only had a few franchises that were locally owned. I have worked for coffee roasters in the past. The coffee at Hyperion stands with the best of the best. Expertly roasted to get the maximum varietal character from each location. In my opinion, the naturally processed coffee are some of the best coffees I have ever experienced. I drink exclusively espresso, mostly lungos. I can not recommend this place enough.
Great coffee! Like both locations!
Great coffee! Like both locations!
So good. So original. They have more milk options: oat & almond. They have a V for vegan pasties that are clearly labeled. So over the moon.
Hyperion is my go-to coffee shop in Ypsilanti. I love that they have great pastries, ethically sourced coffee, and a great atmosphere.
