Pulled up to Luca's Coney Island for lunch and odered the ruben sandwich. I haven't been to luca in a really long time. (5 years ago) I remember having breakfast because they had really good buttery toast. So the ruben was good. Nothing special, nothing stood out, just an old-fashioned rueben. Would I go back and have it again ? Yea, probably.

If you ask people in other parts of the United States what a "Coney Island" is, you'll receive two different answers. One is the entertainment section in the southwestern borough of Brooklyn in New York City. The other is a type of restaurant that is popular in the northern States, having it's origin in Jackson, Michigan in 1914, and are very well-known today in the city of Detroit and throughout the nearby suburbs. When I always think establishments like Luca's, what comes to mind are the famous Coney Island style hot-dogs with chili and onions. These are a staple at just about every greasy spoon. However, the menu selection at this restaurant is truly diversified, and reflects the Albanian heritage of the owners. If you're looking for a great all American food Luca's is the place for you, especially when it comes to breakfast. I decided to drop-in for lunch a few days ago, as my vehicle needed some maintenance done to it. After scanning the menu, I decided to order a Turkey Reuben sandwich, which is an off menu item. Instead of a classic Rueben, I decided to have them substitute turkey, with a side of Thousand-Island dressing. Likewise, I wanted to try their hash-brown potatoes as well. I have to admit that it tasted better than I expected. The service was fast and speedy, with no complaints. A friend of mine said that when he visited Luca's last year, the service was very slow. However, this was not the case when I was there, as it was lightning fast. Likewise, the interior was very clean, and the audio level was average. I will be back!

Best omelets EVER... The servers ROCK. Prices are great.
Luca's is a mainstay of midtown. The staff is dedicated and warm, and like family if you're a regular. I've never had a bad meal here. If you're in the area, this is your best choice for a traditional coney, featuring a large menu of delicious Mediterranean classics and typical American diner fare. The staff are the heroes, here. Tip them well, because they deliver.

I ordered a medium greek salad and a coney island to take home. I asked for chicken on the salad and paid the upcharge, but when I got home there was no chicken. Guess I should have checked.Coney island was alright, salad was very mid. I thought the greek dressing was horrible. I also wish I could order a small greek salad but they don't sell one, so you have to pay $11+ for a medium.
The Greek salad dressing is disgusting.
