If you want draft beer, go somewhere else, though they do have a great beer selection. The drinks aren’t cheap, but they use quality ingredients (they juice daily), and still better priced than what you would find in A2 for the same quality.
Bottom line: if you want great drinks and an amazing staff, this is your place. Best bar in Ypsi. Plus it’s always amusing to see how short Andy’s (the owner) shorts are in the summer.

The bartenders here are super sweet and attentive. The drinks are good, reasonably priced, and have tons of variety. There’s not a ton of seating, but if you can grab a table it’s very easy to spend a few hours here.

Waxbar has been a favorite spot for the past few years, and even though it's changed ownership in the past couple of years, it's still an excellent spot to grab a drink and wind down for an evening.

Waxbar's ambiance used to lean heavily into the record store aesthetic, but now embraces the neighborhood bar/ dive bar style -- the upside is that there's a lot more seating available now! The drinks are still great, and represent a fairly good value overall! I appreciate the low-key nature of Waxbar, it's always a relatively cozy environment, the staff are friendly, and you can tell the regulars love it and will stay regulars for many years (if not decades) to come.

I've sampled a lot of their drink menu in the past few years, but in the recent shift of ownership, I haven't tried as many adventurous cocktails. The most recent trip to Waxbar included a Black Manhattan, which was fun and a nice spin on the standard Manhattan.

I'll definitely be back!

Haven't been in here for a very very long time, since before it was Wax and that was big mistake! This place is great. The vibe is comfortable and inviting, the bartenders are skilled and pleasant, and it was clean.
I will for sure be back and will be recommending to friends!

In from out of town. Drinks were great and the owner was kind and welcoming. There appeared to be plenty of regulars, which was another indication of the great vibe~

Cocktail (Old Fashioned) was delicious. Smaller craft beer selection but, nice variety. Chill atmosphere and really cool, old beer signs.

Wax bar rides the line between dive bar and classy bar In a really weird and wonderful way. Despite loving cocktails I would say that it's not often I get one and am truly wowed by it, but all the drinks I tried last night were outstanding. Probably the best bar I've been to in a long time, and I'll definitely be back. I highly recommend their paper plane, nothing novel, but expertly prepared.

I think I am beginning to understand the beginnings of understanding this bar.

It is not a wax bar. They are playing film; not wax.

I believe any music playing could have definitely been wax; however it had a volume that leant to a Spotify playlist curated intimately by the operator(s) and tender(s) of this bar.

*** Travelers welcome! Tell them your story; if the tenders don’t listen, you’ll be sure to gather a few fans from the seats!!!

if you have a f$t salary, tell them, you may even get to unplug the broken Pinball table, without being cornered by the “service” and asked to leave.

Tap Room got me water and gave me a porch to sit on while I waited for an Uber.

Love Ypsi ?.

stay weird out there folks; and I’ll stay weird here in Detroit

? : bump n wash? I forget? Haha. They make it so silly to order. Or maybe I made it worse?

$14.38 + tip for service

Kid-friendliness: park em on the bar seat

MI club license; 8:30pm bed time for the kids; return with the spouse at 9pm to close it and walk home at 2:45 AM

Wheelchair accessibility: a quick step up and you are in!

forwards? backwards? let’s get a beer! No patio, no problem!

There are seats to sit in, space to leave your own seat.

All the furniture moves, once you’re in, you’re in.

Enjoy this Ypsi accessible gem ?

This place used to be fantastic, and I know you can’t compare bc it isn’t fair, but they removed all of the charm and uniqueness. It’s now very similar to all other cocktail bars that are slightly pricy with a confusing menu, but at least good drinks
