The Hardware Store Speakeasy

Different music and not so loud. It sort of went against the whole "speakeasy" atmosphere. Some jazz would have been more fitting. I'm not necessarily a lover of jazz, but to keep with the speakeasy feel, it would be nice.

Good spot. Fun vibes and live music.

But we were disappointed with the lack of creativity to the cocktails we ordered. We had 4–3 off menu & 1 mix it up which is bartenders choice (no complaining or refunds per menu) All read very “fun” but really tasted uninteresting and lacked the feel of “special” which was the intent of our orders. We frequent lots of cocktail bars so maybe our bar is a bit too high on that front.

The mix it up was basically an old fashion which is the most standard speakeasy drink ever. It did say not to complain, here’s me complaining. Haha —but you catch the drift. You order a mix it up to have some sort of surprise or originality/personality from the bartender and that part was disappointing.

I’m also not a huge fan of “ordering at the bar” we are sitting down at a cute little table and there are servers. Especially when you may have questions about cocktails. Prior to entry the hostess asked if we wanted recommendations, but of course we hadn’t seen the menu yet. Personally, I don’t want a blind recommendation just based on the liquor I prefer because it depends on the cocktails available as most people like more than one liquor. Seemed to lack flow in that regard. It may be because the music was pretty loud in the bar part and she was trying to make sure we could hear her prior to entering the bar? So additionally in the group of 4. I could only talk to my nearest friend on the couch and couldn’t engage in a group conversation due to music volume.

Musicians were extremely talented! If you were there to see music it would be amazing. Sit back relax and watch :)

The decor was great, it’s a fun spot to visit on an occasion but I wouldn’t come back as a regular spot, and especially not one to catchup/visit with a group.

I have been to the hardware store probably 30 times by this point, and it is still my favorite place anywhere near Anoka/Champlin. Not only are the drinks and atmosphere amazing, but the staff has always treated us amazingly. Tonight, specifically, we had a bad Uber experience on the way in. The Hardware Store team made sure us ladies were safe and inside until a safe ride came to Get us When we were done! Plus, because it was my 10th time there, I was made a VIP customer, given a special drink, and overall, they made it a better experience than we could have asked for! An extra special shoutout to Jason who made us feel safe and made our experience GREAT!

The atmosphere here is excellent. The music was wonderful. The drinks are a little pricey but very tasty and fancy. We didn't have any food ,but the food is not the focus of the Hardware Store. If you love jazz and want to get the experience of a classic speak easy, this is the place.

The speakeasy cocktail bar has a wonderful atmosphere and the drinks were outstanding. We also shared the charcuterie board and it was really good and very filling.

I personally don’t like the way they make you order and pay at the counter with people standing there with their iPads ready to take your order. Why can’t they walk to your table to take your order? They bring you your order to the table. They want the tip right away when you order and pay. I’ve hardly been inside for more than a few minutes to review the menu. You have no idea if the service is good or bad nor the food or drinks good or bad. When I’m forced to do this, I always give a smaller tip than I do when I can tip at the end of the meal. I’d prefer service at my table.

This Red Light Speakeasy is amazing I love the atmosphere the drink list and service. Drinks come fast. They don’t have much for food, Snacks and a Charcuterie board. They serve craft drinks here and a small selection of beer. For two people with 4-5 drinks total. It’s roughly a $100 night which isn’t bad. HIGHLY RECOMMEND RESERVATION. And their is a time limit at your table of 90 Minutes

We went here as part of my bachelorette party last Saturday night and it was truly a blast. My group members loved the entrance with the unique "code word" to get in. The hostess was very accommodating as I had an extra guest join last minute who was not on the reservation and they were able to fit all 7 of us on a great lounge couch tucked back by the bar. You do really need a reservation here, especially if you are bringing a group.

My favorite drink that I tried was the "I Like to Party" big shot that looks like a pink milkshake in my photos. The only thing we were not a big fan of was that you needed to go up to the bar to order. Otherwise, the service was top-tier and the drinks were expertly made and delivered quickly. I will definitely be back.

Also, as a huge bonus, they have several N/A cocktails so everyone in the group can feel included and special! My friend enjoyed "The Kardashian".
