Splendid and delicious South Indian food! Saviour in the Twin Cities area if you are missing on authentic Tamil cuisine. Vathal and pondu puli Kolambu' are just among my best recommendations for MUST HAVES. The weekend buffet is heavenly.
Abhi is an excellent host who especially during weekdays has been catering to my taste buds by getting the old menu stuff such as tamarind rice and lemon rice prepared. Thanks Abhi for fantastic service with that smile ALWAYS!

A surprise stop for scrumptious food!
This plant-based eater (vegan) left smiling and satisfied after a delicious dinner at Kumar’s restaurant! While there was only one server/hostess, she remained attentive, kind and helpful for three tables! I appreciated her knowledge of dairy free/vegan/vegetarian foods available and the variety of options on the menu to choose from! The chutneys in the “Dosai” dish were mouthwatering, truly so fresh and pure! There were NO excessive oils nor stagnant tastes as some Indian restaurants have in their dishes!
I would recommend paying in cash if possible to earn the 5% discount. Additionally while the “masala dosai” was tasty, it was mostly just an enormous piece of fried dough. It was not at all filling and acted more as light appetizer/ fun experience. I’d recommend going for the pancake version “kal dosai” to eat if you are hungry.
A final reflection: the to-go containers were very securely wrapped in plastic clingwrap around the styrofoam containers. As an eco-conscious individual I couldn’t help but cringe at all the waste the packaging created. I would urge customers to bring their own containers if it is allowed. To the owners, please transition to biodegradable containers or ones that are at least recyclable!
A lovely experience though overall!

We came in the evening and ordered the chili chicken, ghee roast, chicken dum biriyani, paneer tikka masala, and shrimp vindaloo. All the dishes had a nice flavor, good portions, and the price was very reasonable for 2025. We ordered average spiciness and it was just right, but if you like your food spicier just ask.

This restaurant is so good! Cute vibe. Excellent coffee and spicy curry dishes. The mutton chops masala was out of this world! They don't try to pander to American tastes but really serve flavorful dishes you can't find other places.

I recently tried the buffet at this restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The Chicken 65 was quite dry, and the fish fry and chicken tandoori were also dry and lacked moisture. Even the biryani was dry, which really affected the overall taste. Most of the dishes were very bland and seemed to lack even basic seasoning like salt. The buffet felt very pricey for the quality of food served. Honestly, I think people from Andhra or those used to more flavorful, spicy food might not find this buffet satisfying for their taste buds.
That said, my previous experiences with their à la carte menu and tiffin items were good. However, based on this buffet experience, I would not suggest the lunch buffet at this restaurant. Hopefully, they improve the seasoning and quality of their food in the future.
what a food and what a taste, i am realy impressed. Those folks who are trying to search for tasty biryani, please don't waste your time just come here and try their biryani, and once you feel the taste don't forget to thank me. I tried different biryani, i know what i am talking about.

Absolutely love the food at Kumar’s! The ghee dosa is incredibly flavorful, and their mutton dishes are always on point. The whole fish is a standout—perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
I just wish they’d bring back the mutton dum biryani and mutton chops—those were some of the best I’ve had anywhere.
Great place for authentic South Indian cuisine in the Twin Cities!
