Sterling Cafe is unfortunately, in 2022 not a minority-friendly restaurant. I would not recommend spending money here. They only treat their…‘regulars’ with respect & dignity. What a way to run a business?

Our first pick for breakfast in Austin was too packed so we went in search for another and happened across the kind of small town diner one dreams about - Sterling Diner in Austin, MN. Between the three of us we had buttermilk pancakes and sausage, the Cowboy Skillet, and the waffles. All were top notch, especially the Skillet! Service was great and the price was right. Truly memorable and highly recommended. Cash only!

Food was ok. I got the 'french toast special'. Nothing really special about it. Came with two eggs. Our server seemed annoyed when asked for items we needed. There was a man there, he seemed nice and polite at first. He kept coming to our table and talking to us. I was a bit frightened by him. Only real upside was the prices of the food.

What a pleasant dining experience! Melody was our server and she is one of the most warm and friendly people that I've met and she has a great sense of humor! The food was good and cinnamon rolls amazing. And you cant beat the price! Thank you, Melody. We will definitely be back!

Place ran by someone that is disrespectful to people that doesn't share her viewpoints has management running back of the kitchen area that has no clue what she's doing not a very overly friendly Place food is subpar at best would rather wait to establish other restaurants such as Kenny's Oak Grill or Johnny's skillet which are vast better than the Sterling Cafe. Also don't try to work there they find excuses to fire you over the smallest things and then try not to pay you for the hours you work
