Visiting Minneapolis and found a hole in the wall restaurant randomly. Service wise, the counter lady was hilarious. A little Asian lady who laughed and joked with us the whole. The food... Oh my. A large serving of amazing roast beef served one toast with sides of mashed potatoes and whole corn smothered in a delicious brown gravy!! Heaven on a plate!! I would drive across town to eat here!

Really like the idea of supporting local businesses but was overcharged by a few dollars (petty maybe but it's the principle of it) and was not made aware that the toppings shown on their menu are not actually included. When I mentioned I was overcharged I was first told tax and then told credit card fees but the numbers were just not adding up. (Was charged 20% extra for taxes and credit card fees). Food was pretty decent but just make sure you're doing your own math when purchasing.
The 2 servers are the nicest people I have ever met. They are very caring and friendly. I go there 2x a week. My last time there I did my usual order of French dip with 2 slices of American cheese. Kevan the owner exploded and chewed out the server big time, I never have heard anyone get chewed out like that in my 72 years. Needless to say I will never go to Penn Lake Roast Beef again. What an abussive owner.

The food is horrible! Bread is old also the beef! The wild rice soup is Bear Claw from a dry package you can buy for under $4.00 at Cub. They charge buy the cup. Bought some food twice for my husband and his stomach was so upset. Did not feel like cooking and stopped there..

The lady behind the counter was funny and entertaining! The food was good, but nothing special. I had the French Dip sandwich, the Roast Beef Eggrolls, and Chicken Wings, which were all very good. However, the dips and sauces they offered really brought the quality of the food down. They need to upgrade their sauces to provide a better accent for their food.

The roast beef sandwich, fries, and wonton (yes WONTONS!) are some of the best I’ve had and for a really good price! The Service is always amazing, kind, friendly, and quick. The red plate lunch special is a favorite of mine!
