My first but definitely not my last visit here and everything was soooo good. We had the roast beef Philly with fries, egg rolls, cream cheese wonton, and roast beef plate.my favorite was the roast beef plate but again everything was so good. The best roast beef I've ever had it was so tender and delicious, real mashed potatoes and the beef gravy was great, I dipped my fries in it. Loved the lady who took our order, sorry forgot her name, great personality. I can't wait to go again.

This place has been special to me for a long time. And over all the years their consistency in kindness, generosity and incredible roast beef hasn’t changed a bit. Kevin and Fennie are truly wonderful people. Connect with them and you’ll find out they have a great sense of humor and even greater hearts.
Food-wise, you’ll find simple roast beef sandwiches done incredibly well. You can always taste when love is put into food and that is exactly what you find here. Make sure to try the bbq sauce. Just everything about this place feels like home.

You are missing out if you haven't had a roast beef sandwich from this place! I would give the food and service more than 5 stars. The roast beef and French dip were so fricken delicious! And the service was amazing, they were incredibly kind and our food came out so fast. Will definitely come back here!!!! A minnesota must!
We just flew into Minneapolis and went straight to penn lake roast beef and we were told the sandwiches were good. We went in and the service was sooooo friendly and welcoming that it literally made our whole day! They gave us Michelin star service! Not even exaggerating! It made everything taste so good that it was truly a blissful dining experience.

MUST TRY! Story time: Ok, I'd been a fan of the other roast beef place in Bloomington(same city) for a while. I hadn't been there in years because I don't get to that area much, but last time my family stopped we weren't impressed. I told a buddy about this and he immediately told me I had to go to Penn Lake Roast Beef. Apparently the original chef from the old place for 20+ years.
BOY was my buddy right. The roastbeef was just like I remembered. Flavorful, delicious and a bomb au jus. Do yourself a favor if you like roast beef....go here!
My daughter and I went and we were immediately greeted by a friendly face and it just so happens to be the cook's sister. She was funny and entertaining and enjoyed joking around with us which was great. We picked up one jumbo sandwich for me and the number two with French fries for my daughter. We also grabbed a couple of au jus, no sauce and interestingly enough two egg rolls. You'll understand when you walk in LOL
A handful of critiques but the place is still incredible... french fries were bland. Could use more seasoning. Also not a huge fan of crinkle cut fries but that's me. The food menu is a bit different with a split between American Asian food and roast beef sandwiches. Never really seen roast beef sandwiches with Asian food. Kind of an Asian fusion atmosphere which is interesting.
Overall it's still a must see spot. Do yourself a favor and go on Saturdays because they had a deal on roast beef sandwiches
