Amazing food primarily focused on take-out service. The portions are generous and the food is legit. There are a few seats against the wall as you come in. Staff is welcoming and friendly.

Excellent!!!
Waited for a little bit longer than expected though it was my first time, AND it was 30 min before close so I didn't mind.. usually with that many people in line, it means good food 🤤 sure enough, jerk wings, collard greens and the mac was delicious. Healthy portion, boyfriend ate the rest. Friendly employees, easy going environment , would eat again 👍🏻

The food was good, the wait not so good. You wait to place your order, then wait to pay, then wait for order to be ready. 45± minutes. I recommend placing orders ahead of time to decrease the wait.

I have been here a couple different times and the food never misses. I came here to give kudos to the staff and chefs who worked so hard and professionally yesterday to fulfill all the orders 👏🏽🙏🏽❤️. The line was out the door and people were waiting and that speaks volumes about their food and service.

So this place has a lot of potential. The food here is great. But it overall just seems like very a very nickel and dime kinda place. Why are they charging 0.50 for condiments? That’s like going to IHOP, ordering pancakes, and getting charged for maple syrup…
Considering this is a “To-Go” only place, prices seem high enough to cover little petty things like condiments. Puts a sour taste in your mouth after spending $20 on a meal.
Also, they have a big sign where you order saying “rice and gravy are not automatically included with smothered chicken.” I can only imagine they put that sign up because lots of customers assumed it did. Perhaps serving a half portion of rice and gravy with smothered chicken could be a consideration, if that many customers are asking about it.
Staff here are busy and mostly friendly, but it just seems like they need 1 extra person working both times I’ve gone.
Again, the food here is great, but other things could be better.

We arrived minutes before the restaurant opened on Sunday. We ordered smoked turkey, catfish and smothered chicken for the meat. We chose Mac and cheese, collard greens, green beans and cabbage for the sides. The collard greens and string beans both were very tasty but way too salty. My husband thought the cabbage was great. The Mac and cheese tasted just ok. You can definitely tell by the creaminess that there is either velveeta or some other cheese sauce that was used to make it. Some people like it that way. The catfish was 8/10 and the smothered chicken would have been perfect if it had a tad bit more flavor. 10 minutes after we ordered the food, we were told that the cornbread muffins would be 15 minutes. We were not happy about that, but who wants cabbage and greens without cornbread? We left and went to the farmers market down the road. We came back 30 minutes later, and were told that it was going to be another 15 minutes for cornbread. Forget it! We took our food and left. No apologies. No offers to give us a drink or dessert for free for our time. We spent 90 bucks for 3 meals and an extra side of smothered chicken. Ordered food around 12:08 and final left with the food at 12:54 mainly waiting for cornbread. How do you open up at noon and not have the cornbread ready? Not the worst experience we’ve had but probably won’t return due to the non chalant nature around not having cornbread and making us wait 30 longer for it.

That peach cobbler… wow! I just think they need a sit down restaurant. The time I stood in line is worth it for the food but if I were sitting with friends, I wouldn’t have noticed the time.
The smoked turkey leg is my favorite, but the sides remind me of my granny and Thanksgiving both, keeps me coming back for more.

Omg, the best soul food restaurant I've had so far! The price was reasonable and portion size was great! I was visiting from out of town. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.
