Cannon River Winery + Kitchen

Lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
A variety of good wines to try. Our group liked everything we tried.

Food is limited, although it is somewhat customizable. While all the menu items include meat in some form, I was able to order a pita pizza without meat and my hubby had a salad without meat. Being gluten free is a bit tougher since almost everything is based on pita bread. Although a salad without the side of pita is an option.

There was a live band doing cover tunes which was fun.

Plenty of free parking on the street or in the parking lot next door.

There are designated handicapped parking spots but managing the doors will require assistance.

Took over an hour for a salad and a bowl of soup then the soup wasn't hot and the salad was missing ingredients. We had to ask if she forgot to put our order in. They offered the wine room temp or chilled we said chilled and it was room temp.

We had a lovely midafternoon Sunday stop here to try out the token flight and enjoy some food. The place was busy, but the service was fantastic. We enjoyed all of the wines that we tried, which came as a pleasant surprise, and even bought two bottles to take home. We also had the Lady Gaga garlic cheese bread naan and the Stevie Nicks chicken pesto pizza; there was a bit of a wait for the food, because the place was indeed busy, but what came out was absolutely delicious. We're already talking about doing another trip here to try more wines!

Food service can get held up during busy periods. Try the J Lo flatbread. It's delicious.

There was a good variety of wines, something to suite all tastes. We'll definitely be back!

We had our wedding ceremony at the vineyard in Dennison, and our wedding reception at the winery on 10/4/2024.
The vineyard and winery are both 2 beautiful & perfect properties, and made our wedding vision come true! Abby was phenomenal to work with! We truly appreciate her and her team for working with us to make our day special!

Wonderful selection of wines and helpful staff. I enjoyed the Jungle Juice wine.

Had our wedding there a couple weeks ago. The staff were wonderful and easy to work with. They made the day stress free. I could not recommend enough for a wedding venue!

The grape harvesting kinda missed the mark in my opinion. They forget that we paid $25 a person to help them, just to be rewarded with a Mac and cheese lunch. One employee was marching down the vineyard lines with a speaker pushing us to pick and really wasn’t friendly when it came to pouring the wine tastings. I didn’t mind seeing how grapes were picked, but was expecting more of a tasting experience with food that accompanies the wines along with an explanation about the wines.

Over the years we’ve watched this property come on the market, be purchased and renovated into this historic event center. Within years, the upstairs space, formerly the town dance hall, was also restored and open for larger events (up to 250 people, we were told). Everything that the owners have done is time-period and exceptional.

Initially, we went to see the interior, sample wine, and listen to bit of music over an appetizer. They also offer smaller rooms ideal for board meetings, I rented one for a small local group centered around my work. The staff are positive, fun-loving, and customer focused. This remained true while the building changed hands again in 2016 to Ron Stowell of Eagan.

We enjoy supporting local businesses and this remote gem that has its own 20 acres vineyard. It is amazing how great local grapes can taste!

Today, you can go in and find a table; shortly someone will come to give you menu options. Their flatbread pizzas and appetizer charcuterie boards are ideal for sharing. It has come with a varied selection of artisanal cheeses and meats, artfully accompanied by fruit, crackers/bread, nuts and olives. They are always fine pairings with wine.

You can tell you are in for an exceptional experience just by the naming of their Shareable Plates: The Queen Elizebth II, The Spice Girls, and The Judge Judy Sandwich. They also name entrees after famous actors - everything has an upscale twist with a bit of humor. On cooler days, I have often dropped in to order the creamy chicken with wild rice soup. The name? Annie Oakley Soup. It is such a help that they expanded their menu and now also offer salads. This is a whole notch up from ordering the usual American hamburger.

If you enjoy wineries, I highly recommend that you visit this place. Beverage options run from beer to wine to liquor. You can pull up to the bar, sit outdoors during warm weather, or elect for table seating. Parking is ample. The setting is ideal - right in the heart of the historic downtown of Cannon Falls, MN. You’ll also find unusual gifts for your discerning friends who seem to already have everything.

We had a great time on Saturday at Cannon River Winery! The space is adorable! They had fantastic live music from The Riddle Brothers, yummy wine and treats, and the service was great! We tried the token sampler which was great because we were able to try five different wines of our choice. Our server, Brianna, was super knowledgeable and attentive! I would highly recommend visiting here.

I had a great time with friends and family at Cannon River Winery. My favorite part was our server, Brianna. She was so attentive, knowledgeable and wonderful to talk with. Her expertise elevated the entire experience and I can't wait to go back and try more wines from her!

This is the best Minnesota wine we have tasted. Cool environment, nice live music and welcoming staff. Well worth the trip from the cities.
