Decent size of the room, and the swimming area are not great (you should not allow smoking in this area since there are kids, the buffet is great but they should be more tidy with their utensils and service is a bit slow.

Stood in line waiting for more crab legs to come out, after waiting for about 5 minutes was told by staff that it will be about 5 minutes before more came out. I only went up once and got 2 clusters as soon as many people on line and wanted everyone to get some. Not worth the $40 this time.

You can't be the value of all you can eat crab legs:)! Variety of foods was incredible. Food is always hot and delicious:)! The dessert selection is tremendous!! Our Waitress was very intuitive and friendly ?

The food was all pretty ishy, the waitress never checked on us or gave us refills and I don't feel like we got that great of a deal. We would have preferred to go to the steak house if it wasn't closed for the evening. Very disappointed mostly in the food.

I did not stay here. My family and I ate at the buffet here Thursday evening for crab legs. Definitely use the open table app for a reservation if you want to eat at 3 when they open, reservations become available at 2pm. You really don't need to get there that early though. It wasn't packed and they keep bringing out more crab legs, no need to rush and stack your plate high as some people did. Our servers were great. Soft drinks, milk and chocolate milk are included in the price. Everything was fresh and hot. The prime rib was perfection.

After entering the buffet first set of people we had to wait for them to bring crab out, guessing the goal is for you to fill up on other stuff, very annoying. Worst crab buffet I have ever been at, should not have to stand in line waiting for crab for a half a hour when that is supposed to be the main event. Wait staff is great!

Hadn't been to seafood buffet for awhile. Very tasty even though we had to wait quite awhile for the crab to be replenished. If people would only take two or three leg sections at a time it would make it easier for everyone else instead of piling their plates so high.

We paid $40 per person for the seafood buffet with little to no seafood. We were constantly waiting for the crab legs to be replenished which even then was slim. Long lines for food because the food was not being replenished. The food was very mediocre and not that along with the experience is most definitely not worth the price.

We had reservations for 2 nights at the Super 8 Motel in Cloquet starting the day after the awful shooting of 3 people, including a front desk employee. Of course, they called me to let me know that our reservation had to be cancelled. The manager told me over the phone that a list of people with reservations was to be sent to Black Bear Casino etal. and that they had agreed to the same price that we were given at the Super 8. We drove up directly to the casino and went to the hotel reservation and check-in desk and explained our situation. The employee behind the desk was very understanding, but told us they had no reservation in our name. She then asked another employee, who said we were to go to the First American Inn nearby, and that they would give us a room. So, off we go to the First American Inn. It's a very small, wooden building, which didn't look on a par with even the Super 8 which, BTW, is a very clean, updated, quiet facility with friendly employees. Though the room is okay, there is no elevator and at our age and my health issues, it wasn't fun navigating those open steps to the 2nd floor. There was no casual Continental breakfast like there is at the Super 8. To top it off, we came back to our room today to find no one had emptied trash, picked up and replaced towels etc , straightened the beds, vacuumed - nothing. When my husband went downstairs to ask why and collect fresh towels, washcloths, and soap, THAT'S when we were told there is no room service. When we checked in on Tuesday, the clerk told us they were relatively recently bought by Black Bear Casino etc. Obviously, what happened was that when BBC found out about the awful murders/suicide at Super 8, they allowed Super 8 to send their customers to BBC. Then, they decided to shuffle us all over to this poor-service, second-rate facility so they wouldn't have to honor Super 8's lower prices. Too bad, because we would have played a few machines while we were there. When we were in the BBC, we noticed there were hardly any customers, given it was a Tuesday. They obviously had plenty of rooms available, but chose to send us over to their second-rate motel across the highway. We'll be sure to let our friends and relatives know about how Black Bear Casino & Hotel treated us!

We're a party of 2, waited 3hrs with no updates, over heard the check in host told someone updating another guest that the crab legs, along with prime ribs were out. We were sitting right next to the host stand and would have appreciated if he would have told us directly instead of having to approach him and ask. We also oberved and over heard him communicating with another couple allowing them to jump in line while others waited. Staff could have been more professional.

I was disappointed initially because no one would help me determine which dishes were gluten free as I have celiac. It took several requests of different employees until finally I said: “I drove out from Winnipeg for the buffet and blackjack and I am asking for a sous- chef”. One worker reluctantly called a sous-chef after very loudly stating there wasn't anything gluten free. A very calm and kind sous-chef came out and showed me all the gluten free food choices in less than 5 minutes. The meal was amazing!

bed was way too hard I understand why it's to keep you on the floor spending money on the gambling floor but the thing that ticked me oXD is I hardly get to go out and have a night out then right before 8 in the morning it was time for construction on the hotel. No warning when we checked in. I woke up and had a full panic attack because of the loud sounds. if I would have known it would have been fine though

Just returned from a 2 night stay. We use to stay a few times a year but ya know, Covid and stuff. Anyway....front desk person was by no means "friendly" not once did she smile. Room was clean but so so dated. We were told the ice machine was on our floor, yes I was but it was "making ice" for 2 days!! Sunday night buffet was very good, bland but good ( the desserts are the best!) Mondays the buffet is closed, went to the snack bar where the employees were on break, line of people waiting, food was ok but waited just about an hour to get it, after they returned from break!! The front counter lady spent way to much time talking, loudly, to the cook in back and if a casino employee is in line and theyre on break they get their food first! The slot machines were the tightest I have ever experienced, couldn't win enough to keep playing and when after plugging a couple hundred into one and finally getting into a "bonus" I'd win $20-30, thought I would have learned but no, kept trying to no avail. Finally after loosing many many $$$$$ i quit! If you plan on going just be prepared. Oh and our king size bed was like sleeping on the floor and my back was letting me know all the way home!

First off your host Rodney was discourteous and rude and I told him so. Not everyone knows how to use your phone reservation service. I am 68 and my friend was 80 and there was a nice young man helping us to use your system with my phone. And when Rodney came along it was almost like we were a bother and in his way so he was rushing us aside and we hadn't finished yet registering. He did not offer to help in any way shape or form which I would think that would be part of his job !! We then proceeded to wait for an hour. Then we got called and proceeded to pay and I did not have a paper receipt for the BOGO offer thru Wisdom steps discount card as we had used it when we got our new Black Bear casino card. So I had to go back to card services and get a paper receipt from them. There was a lady cleaning the tables off and bringing drinks and she did not look happy and was banging dishes around loudly. The food was good...thank God or I wouldn't even be writing this. Maybe the staff just was tired at 8PM, maybe their feet hurt...who knows. Maybe they just need a reminder to be more courteous and patient with customers. Then at 1:30 AM I was on my way upstairs to my room and I stopped to check how many points I had and my card would not work in your machine so I asked the person at the desk why my card would not work and she said if it was a new card it would not work in the machine yet as it was not set up in the system yet. I just laughed and went off to bed. She said my old card would work on the machine and I had already threw it out. as I got a new one. I did however have fun playing on the machines and the buffet food was good, and also I had a good mattress to sleep on ! I would recommend the buffet and tell people to disregard the service !!
