Las Margaritas Mexican Restaurant of Cottage Grove

This place was hopping on a Saturday night, but we still had fantastic service and great food. There is an extensive menu - something for everyone. The bright Mexican decor is very welcoming. A plus was an actual sit-down bar area that you don't always see. You could go for a drink at the bar without having dinner, but why miss that great food?

This place was very delicious but way overpriced for the amount of food per plate. We ordered a side of guac, it was literally a few tablespoons and were charged $5. I have never spent as much as we did on dinner, and there were just 3 of us! I was impressed with the decor. Service was ok, but I will not return. If you want a TRUE authentic experience for a much better price, I recommend Boca Chica Restaurant in St. Paul!

Las Margaritas has the best molcajete, schrimp, chicken, carne asada and chorizo with melted cheese, and a side of rice, beans, and corn tortillas... yummy!

Waiter served us food and as me and my guest were speaking he just sat at a empty table waiting on us to pay. We were conversing and in a good convo and he just sat there like we were not going to pay. Never going again.

Food was prepared well and tasted great but small issues ruined my experience. Fajitas didn’t have enough guacamole and sour cream. The chimichanga was just a single chimichanga for $15.99 which is way over priced. I will never go back. The reason is because they had 2 totals on my receipt charging more for credit card sales. Credit card companies only charge a couple percent so adding more on my bill without telling me is stealing from me as a customer. I was going to leave my server a 20% tip but changed my mind since I had to pay a ridiculous fee when the food is already expensive. First and last visit to this restaurant, which is sad because there is so much potential to be a great restaurant here.

3 out of 4 lunch entrees were ok , service was ok . The lunch steak fajitas were horrible . All onions and peppers and the little bit of steak was like beef jerky. I asked to talk to a manager and the manager came over with fighting gloves on . She couldn’t manage a civil conversation with a guest. Never experienced such unprofessionalism from a manager !!!

I used to love coming here but on our last few visits the waiter who said he is a manager was quite rude. Especially when our order was wrong he blamed us and gave lots of attitude grabbing the food aggressively and saying we ordered wrong and he doesn’t make mistakes. I apologized saying I don’t believe I did and said we can eat it if it’s too much of a hassle but he still gave us a lot of grief. My husband ended up saying this is just not worth it no one should be talked to that way we asked for a different manager and he claimed he was the only manager we ended up just paying for our drinks and leaving.
