We had two bad meals. The sides were fine, even tasty. But the brisket I ordered was one small slice and the fattiest piece of meat ever put on my plate. It was bland and I couldn't eat more than two bites. Definitely don't order the brisket. My husband's pulled chicken sandwich had bones in it. He eventually decided to give up. The waitress came and brightly asked, "Everything okay?" An astute waitress would have seen all the food left on our plates and asked if anything was wrong. She didn't clue in. Just whisked the plates away from the table. We just wanted to get out of there and not engage in lengthy explanations of what was wrong. They weren't busy at all (12:30 pm on a Sunday). Would never go back there again.
We were told this was the best place in Duluth to eat. So we came in. The menu says everything is smoked fresh. The food either sat and waited to be delivered to our table; or it is truly not made fresh. I ordered the plate adding pulled pork. We couldn’t eat the pulled pork. After mentioning to the waitress she said it was not made fresh. It was so soupy, and gross tasting. Our meal came with two sides; they were not even hot. The Mac & cheese was not even warm enough to melt the cheese sprinkled onto the noodles. The chicken on our plate was so cold. I refused to even eat it out of fear of getting sick. The brisket was not trimmed for fat at all. So it was a cold blubbery mess. The only hot item we ordered and was actually HOT was the chicken sandwich. Which my daughter said was very dry, no flavor, and “meh” tasting. The grilled cheese off the kid menu also was not even hot enough to melt the cheese. We also ordered the beef fat fries - unfortunately they were also cold. No flavor. The seasoning on the table doesn’t help when they are cold when they arrive. Nothing to soak the seasoning into. I would recommend anywhere else aside from here. The food is not made fresh. After the waitress confirmed we were not the only ones whom complained of cold nasty food. She confirmed it was not cooked fresh. It was frozen and re heated.
Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. The atmosphere was lively, decorated well, clean, and inviting. The food was phenomenal, both main entree and sides. They offer bottled sauces and seasoning mixes, as well as branded clothing items for sale as well. The location is right in the heart of downtown Duluth, so there is street parking, but it is walkable to many shops and other areas of interest.
Food was excellent! Great taste, flavors we’ve never had before, nice portion sizes. One of the owners, Louie, stopped by our table and we enjoyed hearing a little about his story. He was humble and kind. We received wonderful service and felt well cared for. We would definitely recommend OMC Smokehouse to friends and family and will definitely be back when we are in the area.

OMC Smokehouse is a little different from most barbecue joints I’ve been to down South or on the East Coast, it’s a full sit-down restaurant with table service, which was a nice surprise. The food was absolutely incredible. They’ve got several sauces right on the table, and you can try as many as you like — all of them are delicious. The portions are huge; we all had leftovers for the next day. The sides and salads were excellent, but the star was, of course, the meat... juicy, tender, and full of flavor.
We could have sat outside in what looked like a gravel lot with picnic tables, but we chose to eat inside, which was a bit more comfortable. All in all, highly recommended, even if it’s a bit of a drive, it’s totally worth it.

Food tasted good but they were skimping on the meats in a brisket sandwich. very disappointing and then I did not catch that they overcharged me and charged me extra for items I had not ordered or received and I payed a way too generous tip for such incompetence. Not going back again, very expensive and mostly bread was now worth the high prices.

Classic MN BBQ - mid & way overpriced. House sauces are all mild and boring. Beef tallow fries are limp. Beans were pretty solid. Ribs had hardly any meat on them - I've had better ribs at non-BBQ places. Not worth your time or money.

So delicious
Best BBQ I've had in a long time
We got the omc plate it came with chicken, brisket, ribs and 2 sides. My other half loved the Mac and cheese and hush puppies and I enjoyed the roasted poblano corn. I also got the sweet potatoe bake but wasn't a fan of it.(brisket by far my favorite). We also tried a side of beef fat Fry's. The Fry's were good but a little to soft. The complementary pork rinds are good and The house made sauces are great.
Staff was great
Will definitely go back when I'm in the area again
