That is really the great bar! If you love cocktails, this is where you should be! Classics are perfect, but if you want some experiments, ask bartender for that, just explain him direction. All team who work here is really nice! Wish to.come back once.

Great place for a speakeasy. I feel like they could put more effort into the decor. When I went there years ago, it had a much better old timey decor. It sorta feels disjointed and uninspired now. Drinks didn't blow my socks off but were fine. If you're visiting town, it's still a place I would stop by and experience.

Cool place, somehow lacks atmosphere despite the cool location. Have to wait in line 20-30 minutes on a weekend. For the prices there should be a cocktail waitress or better bartenders. Drinks were just fine not great

This place is very cool and the cocktails were superb. Located in the basement of the Old City Hall, the Rathskeller was actually the Duluth jail when the building was built. The stone walls create a fantastic vibe and acoustics for the music. We were lucky enough to see the Hot Club of Duluth play Django Reinhardt style 1920s jazz during our visit. This group is terrific and apparently plays at the Rathskeller every Tuesday. If you're in Duluth on a Tuesday evening and like classic jazz, it's a must see.

I had a magical time. Bartenders were friendly and inviting. Drinks were stellar. There were a lot of muppet enthusiasts (as well as myself) and it made for a most excellent experience. Was my favorite bar for my road trip. I went back a second time! And I’m sure I’ll return again. And I found my new favorite song to listen to on Friday. <3

Matthew the bartender was great! Everyone was super friendly and I loved that they play muppets music at closing!
Have been here many times in the past where I would have given 5 stars across the board. This time drinks were still good, but the server working was wearing an outfit not fit for the environment. Bike shorts and open toe sandals… As a bartender myself that is definitely a safety hazard, if not a health violation. Along with this, the music played tonight was horrendous. It started with generic radio pop songs and turned into the muppets soundtrack? That is something you listen to in private.

Showed up around 10pm Saturday night. The place did not appear busy. We were greeted by a sign that said to seat yourself and wait to be served. We waited for about 10-15 minutes with no service so we decided to sit at the bar in hopes of getting served. We were completely ignored by the bartenders while they chatted with and attended to other customers including customers that came up well after we sat down. So we left having never been served. First time we were here couple years ago staff was VERY attentive and accommodating. Maybe this place has been going down hill or they have no staff anymore? But it was a far cry from our first experience. Hope for a special time there but the experience soured evening. I wouldn't recommend this place anymore.

Great selection of cocktails and wonderful atmosphere. Live music is great too without it being overly loud, which allows you to still conversate with others.

The service was something to be desired. It took us 15 minutes to even get acknowledged and then another 20 minutes to actually get our 2 drinks. It was busy and there only seemed to be 1 server so I would normally cut some grace, but bigger groups that came in way after us gpt their drinks before we did.
When we finally did get our drinks (and on the verge of just walking out) they weren't very good and we got no apologies or explanations for the wait.
They either need more staff or a better way to keep track of customers because this was a disappointing experience.
